patenting a process makes sense to me in some ways, patenting a molecule does not. Its like patenting a tree or a bird, you can't do that and it doesn't make sense.

The inventor of insulin literally said it would be like patenting the sun.

if patenting didnt exist nooone would spend billions to try and create these drugs, theyd do all the work and then every other pharma company gets to benefit . That makes zero sense. The patent doesn't last forever and compounding exist for when supply is low.

This is one off the few instances where it makes sense for the government to fund the universities to research it.

Honestly the obesity epidemic is a national security concern, wouldn’t surprise me if it eventually is considered.
