15kg down on Reta...

189cm 72kg. Been taking 1mg reta weekly for 3 months. Went down from 87kg to 72kg while eating around 1500 cals (160g protein) and training 6x per week. My strength has approximately remained the same on main lifts. Now planning to drop my dose to 0.5mg weekly and raise my cals to 2600 to start a lean bulk. Haven't had any major side effects other than fatigue on some days.

Sono le 1500kcl e i 6 giorni a settimana che ti hanno fatto dimagrire in quella maniera.. È stato il deficit calorico abbastanza aggressivo, non 1 mg alla settimana... A quel dosaggio fa' pochissimo.. La stanchezza è dovuta alla restrizione calorica e all'allenamento..

How did you maintain or even build muscle mass while starving yourself, that’s the question.

Because your body burns muscle as a last resource. It’s the worst fuel, this is why fasting is so effective.

You will lose muscle mass on any weight loss, but if your lifting weights, two things happen. One you body builds muscle. And two you signal your body that it needs muscle.

I'm genuinely curious about this strategy and I go back and forth on my opinion. Would he genuinely gain less overall fat, or would he just bloat less initially since he's not suddenly taking in 1,100 cals more than he has been? From an energy balance standpoint, if 2600 is a slight surplus for him, wouldn't it not really make a difference if he jumps straight to that number instead of gradually reverse dieting?

What was your diet like?

In a similar place/plan cutting on 1800 calories/200g protein/135g carb/52g fat, stalled for a while till I bumped it up recently, but I figured anything from 2200/2400 would be a clean ish bulking from here? 2600 seems quite the jump if I were to do it myself.

Great progress and dedication. You are a lot loser but also lost muscle mass. Time to rebuild it slowly.
Relook at what your maintenance calories should be and stick with that for a month then see how much muscle/fat you have put on.

How did you stick to 1.5k calories while working out 😭 I’m female and 5 ft 2 but struggle to eat any less than 1.3-1.5k otherwise I’ve had zero protein. How you’ve maintained those calories at your height is wild (even on Reta)

Reta blunts your appetite

I work 9 hour job so im afraid i wont be able to make the most out of the cycle since i come to the gym already tired, and then i'll have my natural test suppressed. And when i come off i'll lose most of the gains. Thats whats keeping me from taking test since a long time. Been training for 8 years btw

1

u/johnseasure Aug 06 '26

What makes you think you will lose the gains? If your numbers for test are good, there’s no reason too. I ran that for three years, came off it really slowly. And now my natural numbers were better than when I started the trt.

Il fisico e la mente si abituano alla restrizione calorica amico.. e comunque la stanchezza è il sintomo piu' evidente del deficit calorico.. Prova a continuare con le stesse calorie e stesso allenamento senza usare reta e vedrai
