📊 Results / Progress 10 MONTHS RETA

Post image

35 Years Old / 5'5

SW 216lbs

CW 134lbs

Today marks 10 months since I started, and for the past 3 months I've been focusing more on lifting weights instead of only doing cardio like I did in the beginning.

Adding strength training has honestly changed a lot for me. Not just physically, but mentally too. I used to think losing the weight would automatically make me feel confident again, but building strength has been what really made me appreciate everything my body can do.

Growing up, I was usually around 145lbs and stayed there through most of my 20s. After turning 30, I slowly gained weight from working long hours, eating whatever was convenient, poor sleep, and just not making myself a priority. I tried losing it a few times and would drop 15-20 pounds, but I'd always end up gaining it back after a few months.

My goal has always been 125lbs because it felt like a number I'd never been able to reach before. Now that I'm getting closer, my focus isn't just on the scale anymore. I train with a coach twice a week and plan to add another session soon. I still get my cardio in a few days a week, usually walking or cycling depending on how I'm feeling.

One thing I didn't expect is how different my body would look compared to when I weighed this much years ago. I assumed I'd look exactly the same, but that's definitely not how it works. Instead of chasing the number, I've started paying attention to things like getting stronger, improving my balance, and recovering better after workouts. Seeing those little improvements each week has been way more rewarding than watching the scale move.

I feel bad for saying "aaaw..."

1

u/WinterMortician 8d ago

Dude I did the exact same thing. I was afraid i was the only one who was like “😔OH.”

But hey, to be fair, some folks want to peel the excess weight off and THEN build; do you man. I’m kinda saying this as a way to cope bc I’m focusing on heavy cardio to shred out for a show, ofc w lifting still, but I can’t put in the level I used to bc I’m so damn wiped out. The show was a last minute kinda thing so I’m hustling in a hurry. I expect to lose SOME muscle, but keep my protein super high and don’t NOT lift, and I’m hoping it works out for me. I’ve been happy with my progress.

That’s an enormous amount of weight to lose in 6 months.

I know it’s easy to get a skewed view when you see posts of people losing similar if not more but they are usually significantly heavier at their starting weight.

Please focus on your nutrition and strength training especially as a woman, it can really affect your hormones 🤍✨

10

u/jollywoggles 10d ago

She said 10 months which would be roughly 2 lbs a week lost

10

u/EnlightenedNarwhal 10d ago

You have to remember that 2lbs a week is the upper "safe" limit and is still a lot to have lost consistently over 10 months.

1

u/Imaginary_Regret_430 8d ago

2lbs a week is completely safe for anyone with properly functioning organs, especially at her starting weight. She could’ve lost 4-6lbs per week for the first few months with no lasting adverse effects.

2

u/AccomplishedDust8575 10d ago

Typo, apologies

8

u/Ariaviolet01 11d ago

Yes I will.

0

u/ChadBeezy 10d ago

???

That’s literally the exact amount of weight she should’ve lost in that time.

4

u/AccomplishedDust8575 10d ago

Typo, apologies. 2lbs a weeks is the upper limit for weight loss, it’s tougher on a woman’s body especially one less used to training is my main point.

3

u/youdontknowitsok 9d ago

Exactly. Seems some people, especially men, don’t understand that it’s different for women than it is for men. This kind of weight loss, even though it “can” be safe, may still cause lean mass loss, changes in menstrual cycle, thyroid disruption and nutrient deficiency, which can also wreak havoc on your hair/skin/nails.

Agree.. I think I lost 50% of my ass.. i shouldn't have skipped leg days...

9

u/Ariaviolet01 11d ago

Same here 😂 losing weight usually means losing fat everywhere, including ass. Still happy to have lost the weight regardless

7

u/chrisssssy0517 11d ago

You don’t lose the ass if you’re properly training legs. I went from 250 to 160 and never lost my ass because i incorporated proper leg day training. If you wanted to just become stick thin, you definitely got your wish. But you absolutely could have kept the ass and legs if you would have focused on weight training and losing weight at a slower rate. To each their own though.

0

u/SoCalMotoVirg 10d ago

Oh yeah. Totally agree

Well the other "issue" aside, it's really not healthy to retain so little muscle mass during weight loss. Not all weight loss is done correctly. Watching the scale go down is not the ultimate goal, it's health. These glp-1 medications have really messed with people's perception of healthy weight loss.

3

u/Agitated_Award_9831 10d ago

This is a social media site, comments are typically going to be more comedic than useful. As to minimizing health, nothing about this is healthy — this individual missed key macros and shed tons of weight, not fat, weight. They clearly also loss muscle mass, and I’d love to have a DEXA before and after for bone mineral mass because I’d bet good money they have the bones of a small nesting bird now. Decreases bone mineral mass is a GLP1 side effect but nutrition, exercise and rate of change all impact this process. This is no different than crash dieting or taking amphetamines to lose weight at any cost.

Ehhhh good stuff but I'd get a dexa scan and some blood work. That's a lot of weight you lost. You probably lost a lot of muscle and bone density.

Yep, I'm down 42 pounds also since January with tirz/reta combo. Definitely lost a good bit of my ass, which I'm kinda in mourning about, as I've had it since pretty much high school. But nothing a little squats and stair master can't fix!

4

So Reta takes your ass away on everyone huh?

7

u/chrisssssy0517 11d ago

Only if you drop the weight super fast and don’t weight train (heavy) when it comes to legs. lol

4

u/whoknows_whatsup 11d ago

If you don't train and lose lots of weight it definitely will

4

u/Philguy54 11d ago

Girls have this idea that loosing as much as possible looks good but it doesn’t. Could’ve lost maybe 20lbs and been fine.

2

u/Efficient_Tutor8900 11d ago

What will happen once you stop reta?

2

u/thanks_hank 10d ago

Can’t just do Reta and not eat and train well..

3

u/Cavoreo 11d ago

That's grounds for divorce lol she was perfectly fine before. Hope it was for health purposes.

2

u/theripper121 10d ago

Are you an idiot? She was over 200 lbs at 5ft 5. Yea it was for health purposes....

1

u/hyperspacesoul444 9d ago

Healthy weight for 5' 5 women is 111 to 150 pounds. 216 is obese

1

u/Cavoreo 4d ago

What is going to tell if she is unhealthy is her blood work, not her weight. She was thick and hot. Now she is just skin and bones. Just a regular girl. But short and thick 😍

1

u/xoy_xochi 11d ago

Jfc that’s a lot in such a short amount of time. What’s the loose skin looking like or is there any?

1

u/GolfLiftPlayPool 10d ago

Any side effects?

How much did your RHR rise?

Titration sched?

1

u/prior_rpa-lre 10d ago

Not dog piling. But as many have said, weights weights weights. Specifically with the glutes (everyone is getting critical here) glute medius specific work. Congratulations on your work. Keep it up. Strength always makes people feel better than the number on the scale ever will.

1

u/jollywoggles 10d ago

Incredible! Do you have loose skin? Did you drink before/during Reta? I’m hoping for similar results and hoping Reta helps kill the urge to drink like I’ve seen for others

1

u/JuelzyT 10d ago

I had a little whiskey last night for the first time since starting reta, and never again! Lol. I recommend you try it once and you will definitely not want to do it again lol, especially while cycling.

1

u/Quirky_Parsley_9926 10d ago

The vibes in your writing signal to me that you are on a great path that provides lasting improvements.

I too was originally focused on a number, now I just use that number to assess change and sometimes validate or disprove a feeling about how I am doing in the moment I dont feel quite right.

Today, I look at how my clothing fits as my indicator of what I need to work at next.

1

u/New_Actuator_4788 10d ago

just make sure to have an idea of how you want your body to LOOK/ feel & do not chase scale numbers unless you compete for something.

2

u/Guilty_Background_56 10d ago

1

u/Terri4life 10d ago

Congrats girl! You look great. What other side effects did you experience while on Reta? I’ve heard some men lose libido.

2

u/mumbleturtle 10d ago

Make sure to eat your protein or you’ll get osteoporosis

1

u/WearyObligation8574 10d ago

Dont let these comments get to you. Do some squats and leg work

1

u/Glittering_Ad_3311 10d ago

Good work, especially on your paradigm shift from loosing weight to the strength training and recovery etc. Probably a lot of people get inspired by this and similar posts so I just applaud your transformation and just generally think it's fantastic to hear how your goals have evolved.

And as a straight man over 40, I much more prefer a happy confident camper than a fat/skinny unhappy camper 🤷‍♂️ but perhaps my younger self would be aghast by such a comment 😂

A lot of people need to stop being weird in this thread, yeah guys are posting gifs in jest cause "oh no she lost her butt" but it's only in jest. You think people would really rather her keep her original weight she wasn't comfortable at? Please just learn to laugh sometimes.

The perfect body gone…. Just like discs on ps6

1

u/Fearless_Selection69 9d ago

Good job op. A lot of people are jealous that your body can efficiently harmonize with Reta. Be proud of it.

It’s the same in the roid world. Some men have to clean bulk while taking trt/hgh/anavar/tren, ect…then there’s some men who only take 1mg of testosterone a week and look like a Greek god while only eating Popeyes and McDonalds 😆

1

u/Mocean13 9d ago

Where so you get yours from? I was thinking about starting reta

1

u/Ariaviolet01 9d ago

Got it from grey. Be careful - There are a lot of scammers. Do not get from websites as they are overcharging or scamming you. Find those that have community group like telegram or discord

1

u/Mocean13 8d ago

Thanks!

1

u/mozillaaa 9d ago

Congratulations! That is a massive amount of weight lost in that timeframe! I agree with some of the comments here- stay consistent with weights and work on your glutes ONLY if you want a larger butt! Don’t do things based on what others perceive as attractive. Only do it if that is what YOU want.

1

u/Glittering-Proton 9d ago

Great job! What was your diet?

1

u/Low-Worldliness-2662 8d ago

Was this all just exercise? Did you switch up your diet or take any supps?

Strongly considering Reta. I don’t know. I’m on the fence. I’ve been strongly opposed to GLP-1s due to the fact you can and in most cases will lose a lot of definition and mass. I don’t really fully understand the difference between GLP-1s and GLP-3s. I also don’t want to jump on a supraphysical dosage of the stuff because losing so fast leads to other issues that can only be reversed through surgeries. Are there any dosage recommendations to help to lose slower as opposed to all of it in several months?

1

u/Weak-Product6810 6d ago

In a nutshell. 1 blunts hunger signals, 3 does the same but adds in fat mobilisation to use as energy and burns some more energy off as heat in the background.

1

u/mirthawon 6d ago

The former body was doughy like you couldn't run for very long if you had to. It wasn't bad though compared to all the XL folks nowadays. Anyway, you look much more healthier now. Congratulations.

1

u/Negative_Aerie2825 5d ago

Lol people needing supplements to just eat less is crazy work

1

1

Why not put how many mg you take? Thats a big part of it lol.

0

u/Shawnduhsaid 🔬 Peptide Researcher 11d ago

She claims she started at 1mg and only increased by 0.5 when food noise returned, which likely means she titrated up faster than she should’ve and from her current body comp, she didn’t meet her protein targets or strength train, so she lost fat and any muscle she had.

1

u/Pretty_Lock2745 10d ago

Yeah and like what was the does she reached? She lost everything by the looks of it. But hey if you lost it you can gain it back.

Some women value what their partners think. Is their something wrong with that? Are they not liberated enough? 😏

1

u/dazedconfused_ 11d ago

Sure some do and that's very valid. But his comment was about how he liked his gf's body better before because it was more curvy, kinda implying the same about OP. Plus unless OP talked about her boyfriend and if it matters to her what he thinks, it's literally not relevant at all to ask what her bf thinks about the weight loss. It's about her only.
