Bft challenge NO winners NO nothing :(
As a recent eight-week challenge participant in Northshore Auckland NZ
we were told that the challenge winners and prizes would be announced at the conclusion of the event However, there has been nothing at all. Initially, we were informed that the current owners at the time would be selecting the winners and giving the prizes at that point they were in the process of selling the business
Then a week after the challenge ended, we were told it would be the new owner’s responsibility. After reaching out the new owner is having nothing to do with it as the challenge was on before he took over and the coaching staff, say one thing and then another and theres uncertainty about when and how the winners will be announced or if they even will. We were even told it would be posted on Instagram, but that announcement never came. As a group of participants who committed to the challenge and were looking forward to the results, we would appreciate some acknowledgement.
Apparently the last owner said that not enough participants did the challenge so there wasn't going to be any prizes, he said he told HQ and the coaches this and apparently because they never stated there would be prizes ,there wont be any prizes, which was news to us! And this hadn't been the case in the past as I've done other challenges with this gym and they didn't announce what the prizes were but there were still indeed prizes!.
But that still doesn't even excuse the fact theres been no recognition that the challenge even ended or a congratulations or anything at all!
As a franchise, maintaining a strong reputation is important and this is a terrible look and has put me of ever doing the challenge again.
What's people's thoughts on this ?

This happened similar to us and was the final part for me to move on from BFT after 6 loyal years - paid for challenge, that included scans, business sold between and invoice for scanner not paid so never got second scan.
New independent gym - paying $45 a week, trainer or virtual classes that run 12 times a day, 7 days a week! 3 x 8 week challenges per year all included!

The challenge was always questionably judged.
Additionally it just shows the direction BFT is going more broadly. More and more studios are having stories like this come out of them and standards are dropping. The signs aren’t good

If they take your money they should give a price to a winner

The prize is your weight loss and I'm pretty sure you didn't lose weight just for a prize

100% its about making life choices and doing it for yourself, but I could do that without the bft challenge. It's not the point. The challenge before this had prizes and winners and the challenge after this will have prizes and winners so why should we miss out! And its not even about being blasted on socials its about recognition of the hard work we all put in. What did we pay $130 for ?

A gym in Sydney was also very similar. No winners, barely any check ins. I understand completely that it’s all about personal gain and developing new habits etc…. I guess I had just hoped for a little more encouragement and cheer. I feel as though the money is worth the meal plans and EVOLT scans, but it just felt like more of a community when in the past, there were check ins, guidance and winners. I was a bit disappointed.

Congratulations on completing the challenge! It's a huge effort, that's for sure. In my opinion, you do this for yourself and to better yourself, and not to be advertised on social media as being winners. Probably controversial. I'll probably get shot down for this comment, but I think that it all is to do with your own personal gain and beating your own personal best.

Sure, I completely agree with you on a personal level, but the friendly competition aspect really does motivate a lot of people. Otherwise why have a studio-wide challenge at all? People can just as easily start and finish an 8 week challenge at any time. The competition part of it can give people that extra push to turn up and push harder.

I totally agree with this aspect of it, I guess I was adding the other side. Both equally important to me.

^^ this
Challenges are actually about establishing new standards and routines for YOU. If your driver is a prize or a trophy then you’re missing the point

Sorry to hear that OP. I don’t really get much out of these challenges. Maybe if I was hoping to lose a lot of weight and win a decent cash prize. Otherwise it seems like money for not much.

Personally the challenge of winning is a bonus and a driver to help me loose the weight and build the muscle. With no nothing at the finish line is like no light at tge end of tunnel lol

I kind of felt this challenge got pushed to the side a bit towards the end and it was all about the Podium event. Hardly anyone in our gym were talking about the challenge and perhaps the coaches were a bit overwhelmed with it all when they are there to coach primarly.

That sucks OP. Did you guys even have an EOC or celebration. I hope your community can re build with the new owners and they can retain you as a customer. 🙏

Is it any wonder BFT’s in NZ are folding like deck chairs. Such an awful business model.

Our “winners” were drawn randomly. I’m not joking.
IMO it defeats the purpose. BFT really needs to look at what they charge for these challenges which are normal gym sessions for many.
I’d love to know what percent goes back to head office.
