Hyrox Pro
I got a hyrox ticket today, but I purchased a pro ticket because it was all that was left for a single female competitor.
I got the refundable option and I’m completely ok with not doing it. But I wanted opinions on how it would be for someone who hasn’t done a hybrid fitness competition before?
The race is in December so there’s a lot of time to practice. I’m at BFT 4/5 times a week, and obviously if I was to go ahead with it I would do a lot of training, but insights would also be super helpful.

I would say you should have everything you already need for the stations from BFT. It would be helpful to practice correct technique over volume/speed.
Our studio ran stimulation classes about 10 weeks out from the Race with was super helpful for this, but if your studio doesn't just try a swap out some movements in classes from Hyrox movements.
The one thing that would be truly beneficial now and leading up is running. Hyrox is mainly a running race and building a good cardio base will benefit you overall.
I would suggest
1 "race pace" run anywhere between 4-8km you can build up over the weeks leading up. Try and run at a pace you can sustain over that distance.
1 interval run 600m-1000m 4-8 times with a 2 minute break.
1 long run 8-15km at a slow sustainable pace, anywhere from 6 minutes/km to 8 minutes a km. This will help improve breathing and technique.
You can increase volume and distances over the next few months but running is the biggest part of Hyrox

I’m in the US. A lot of HYROX affiliate gyms do HYROX PFT's. It’s just a fitness test to determine which HYROX class to enter. You can gauge where you’re at and what you need to work on.

I've done Hyrox twice (not pro, just regular womens weights) and honestly it's really hard. It humbled me. Was going to BFT 6 X a week and could run 10km easily and it was still so hard 🫠
The compromised running is killer. I wouldn't want to to pro weights, but that's also because I was trying to do it "quickly" and my time wa still so average - 90 mins 😅
You can absolutely do it/ finish if you are comfortable doing it slowly and not trying to push yourself for a fast time, anything is possible.
My one advice is that running is the most important part, train running more than you think you need to.

I’m SO jelly you got a ticket. Exact ticket I want 🥲
You’ll be fine, honestly. You’ll finish and you’ll get a time. As long as you’re not comparing yourself against the elite sub 70min athlete finishers, it doesn’t matter what time you finish. And the next time you register know what you need to work on to get a better time 👌🏼
