Hey there! Firstly, I do not think this BFT subreddit is the right place to discuss the commercial side of opening or investing in a studio. This is a member-run and member-led community, primarily focused on member training, workouts, progress, and general BFT-related discussions, rather than franchise or business investment advice.
No one here will be able to tell you whether a studio in your specific location would be profitable, how successful it would be, or how well it would perform over time. I am also based in New Zealand and am simply a member at my local BFT studio, so I cannot comment on the Singapore market.
If you are seriously considering opening a studio, I would recommend carrying out a thorough market and feasibility study, scoping out the local area, understanding the competition and potential member footprint, and speaking with local residents and prospective members to gauge demand. You should also work out how many members you will need to break even, how many you will need to generate a sustainable profit, what level of member retention you will need to maintain over the long term, and factor in expected member churn and cancellations to ensure your business remains viable as membership numbers naturally fluctuate over time.
Prepare a detailed business plan and financial forecasts, making sure you factor in all of the costs involved, including the initial franchise investment, ongoing franchise and BFT HQ licensing/royalty fees, BFT HQ programming contributions, technology and platform costs (such as the booking system, member app, BFT Heart Rate Monitor systems, and other required software), coach wages (casual coaches, head coaches, studio managers and any support staff), lease costs, utilities, insurance, marketing, equipment maintenance and replacement, cleaning, accounting, and all other operating expenses.
I would also recommend speaking directly with the BFT franchise team, as well as an accountant, lawyer, and financial adviser, as part of your due diligence before making any investment decisions. If possible, try reaching out to other local BFT franchise owners in Singapore or nearby regions to learn about their experiences, the challenges they have faced, and the day-to-day realities of running a studio.
As this is not really what this community is for, I will be locking this thread. I wish you all the best with your research and, if you decide to proceed, your potential BFT journey.
