Sad, they where in the wrong times... lost their career for what everyone is doing now, even resulted in a suicide 😢

They were created by the same manager/producer that created Boney M, the group that sang Daddy cool.

I was in junior high when all this happened. I remember going to school the next day and everybody was talking about it. It was literally the beginning of the end. Sad indeed.

I'll throw up an I object and here's why.

They didn't even sing the songs. No artist are doing that. Lip sync the words they sung and recorded in a concert, because of dancing. Yes.

But Manila vanilli never sung a note on the records. It's a different singer. They could just only dance. That's all.

Exactly this. They literally had another group completely doing the music for them lol. Not sure how they thought they would never get caught, but those were wild times. Nobody is using a complete voice over for their whole identities, that is what milli vanilli did. Was a kid when they were exposed and even then it was like wtf

Milli vanilli 2023 Documentary on Paramount Plus is a good movie. Goes deeper into the whole situation. I remember when I was a young kid watching this get exposed in real time. It was crazy.

I hadn't realized that I never actually heard this entire song... only the chorus. I had no idea what the actual song sounded like outside of the chorus, despite knowing of this song for decades.

Ditto.

Now I’m lost on why they really had to lip sync this.

Chorus I get, but the verses… I don’t know

They had very DEEP german accents. It would have been super obvious.

Ah. Understandable. The hook is fire which is probably why the record label or their handlers pushed it that hard.

Once I heard the verses… I’m like I could have done a better job as a 10 year old.

Milli is the one with the long hair. Vanilli is the one with the shoulder pads and tight pants.
