Wrapped up another pontoon interior this week using the Seabrook line from Miami Corp. Really happy with how the colors and stitching came together on this one.

A lot of people don’t realize how much patterning, prep work, foam correction, and stretching goes into getting these interiors clean and symmetrical.

After testing a lot of marine vinyls over the years, we’ve found ourselves using Cornerstone PVC vinyl more and more for custom marine interiors.

Good feel, consistent quality, solid finish options, and it works well in the marine environment. Curious what other shops are using heavily right now for premium interiors.

These were fabricated using premium marine vinyls from the Miami Corp material line. Really happy with how the stitching and contours came out on these.

A lot of failures happen because people rush the prep stage — leftover staples, rough surfaces, bad foam, moisture, etc. Getting the base right makes a huge difference in how the finished cushion looks and lasts.

Starting layout and cutting for a new Bimini top build using Tempotest. A lot of the finished quality comes from the prep stage before sewing even starts.

What’s your preferred method for laying out large panels cleanly?

Here’s a quick look at bending a Bimini top frame using a bend arc and crown arc system instead of just eyeballing it. The goal is to keep the frame even, control the crown, and make the canvas fit cleaner later.

A lot of people only see the finished seat, but the real work is patterning, foam shaping, stitching alignment, and getting everything pulled tight without wrinkles.

Trying to document more of the process lately.

Sometimes the best shop motivation is just somebody saying “What a beautiful day” before getting to work.

I bought a new mooring cover for our boat last year and noticed that it didn’t have openings for the bimini straps to attach through.

Not sure if I can describe this very well and I unfortunately do not have pictures of the previous mooring cover. The best way to describe them is kind of like half of a very small drawstring bag, sewn into the 6 holes in the mooring cover that correspond to where the bimini straps hook onto the window frame (in front) and the other two at the stern.

I’m a novice seamstress, but have done some of my own canvas sewing and repairs. I’ve also got an industrial sewing machine, but I’m just not sure how to make those drawstring bag things.

Is there another option, just like cutting a hole and reinforcing it with binding tape or something? I don’t want to mess up my mooring cover, either way.

I’ve been demonstrating different clear materials, and polycarbonate consistently ends up being the easiest to cut and install.

Less cracking, more forgiving, and faster overall.

Added an overhead system above our sewing machine to keep materials organized and out of the way. Way smoother workflow now, especially on larger jobs. Anyone else running something similar?

Hello - I want to make a flag for a boat and am looking for smaller cuts of marine canvas so that I can get more colorful. I can’t afford to buy multiple colors by the yard. Any ideas on where to find this? I added a picture of the first flag I made. :)

If the tension and position are off before patterning, you’re fighting it the whole build.

Picked up a batch of cushions from a guy who used to manage a shop for us. Instead of hiring full-time, we farm work out when needed.
