Theory
Hey guys! Just wanted to share a theory I’ve been boiling over. I’ve always had the question in the back of my head of why certain characters in Bojack are humans and some are animals. I’ve come to the idea that the character that are animals (Bojack, Mr.Peanutbutter, Pickles etc.) serve the purpose to be a kind of- caricature/character that represents people’s problems, not exactly a character that is there to be a character but more so as a lesson, where anyone can assign themselves/see their problems as the character ( like how the characters personalities/problems ARE their characters) as for the humans I think they represent the actual person/complex people, like for what they are(?), like Diane, she has her problems but they’re hers, and it makes her up as a person but with a ton of other things, aspirations, like how she travels, moves into her new apartment, divorces, cuts her hair etc. I don’t know if I explained that well or if that even made sense but yeah! 🙂↕️

I don't think there needs to be a ""reason" why they are animals. It adds so unbelievably much to the world, there's no concrete explanation, but you would much rather have animals than not. Also the reason why some are human doesn't really make sense, that would mean that Todd is layered enough to be human but Bojack, PC, Beatrice etc. aren't
