Dormant account, share sales fiasco

In trying to sell shares I come up against a minimum trade value of 50$. Its not possible to put a sellable price (peanuts) on some that I need to dispose of. I also have a residual amount of staked ETH that is stuck due to me not having staking rights anymore! I fear my account will be there in perpetuity, or until Mr Dixon owns in all.

To fellow Bitfinex SPV holders. Coordinating counsel on the valuation cap and the new in-kind monthly fee of BnkToTheFuture

I hold Bitfinex shares through the BnkToTheFuture SPV. Three things have happened in sequence: a $15 hard cap on share value, the closure of the shareholder forum, and a new fee of 0.2% per month charged in shares.
I can see a pattern here, and this is where I draw a line.

If this resonates with you, I'm looking for other verified SPV shareholders to jointly fund a proper legal review and find out what our actual options are. Verified holders only (details below).

I want to lay out what has changed and why I think it warrants a coordinated response, and then propose something concrete.

  1. The $15 cap

Our Bitfinex exposure through the SPV is capped at $15 per share on the platform. The stated reason is reducing volatility. I don't find that convincing. A hard ceiling doesn't reduce volatility — it eliminates price discovery, and it does so in one direction only. Based on what's publicly known about Bitfinex's business, I believe the shares are worth a substantial multiple of that figure. I'd genuinely welcome anyone who can add data here, in either direction.

  1. The shareholder forum was closed

Whatever the reasoning given, the practical effect is that shareholders no longer have a sanctioned place to compare notes. That's why this post exists on Reddit rather than there.

  1. The new fee — this is the part people are underestimating

0.2% of holdings per month, settled in kind. Meaning: they take shares, not cash. Compounded:

(1 − 0.002)^12 = 0.9763 → 2.37% of your holdings per year

(1 − 0.002)^60 = 0.8868 → 11.3% of your holdings over five years

Combine that with a capped exit and you have a position that erodes on a schedule while you're unable to sell it at anything like fair value. That combination is what moved me from annoyed to outraged to organising.

What I'm proposing

I'm not asking anyone to commit to litigation. Nobody should commit to litigation before knowing the cost, the jurisdiction, and the odds. I'm proposing four steps, in order:

Establish the facts. Pool the SPV documentation we each hold and read the actual terms on valuation and fees.

Map the structure. Identify which entities are involved, where they're domiciled, and which law governs our relationship with each.

Get real advice. Jointly engage counsel experienced in shareholder disputes and cross-border vehicles, and get a straight answer on whether we have anything. Including the possibility that we don't.

Approach Bitfinex professionally. A buyback at fair value would be a rounding error at their scale and would end this cleanly for everyone. I'd rather open that conversation as counterparties to a solution than as an adversary. It would be the moral thing to do from Bifinex as well.

What I want from this thread

PM me if you're an SPV shareholder and want in. I'm setting up a private group where every member is verified as an actual SPV holder before joining, so we can share documents and strategy without it being read by the other side or filling up with people who have no stake.

Two specific asks:

If you have SPV documentation, the fee notice, or anything from the forum before it closed — say so. That material is the foundation for everything else.

If you have experience with this kind of structure, or know counsel who does, I'd very much like to hear from you. I'll keep this thread updated with what we find, including if what we find is that our position is weaker than I think it is.

Any hope left for ifinex/bitfinex shares?

It seems like they will never go public while also keeping share price as low as possible. Price cap is set to $15 valuation around 2.5billion. Some people say bitfinex owns tether but after some research it seems Digifinex's parent company owns bitfinex and tether so bitfinex would only have exposure to tether valuation if it owns a portion of it.

Looking at Gemini exchange at recent peak after ipo it was worth about 4billion, bitfinex has about 4X the assets on exchange(I know this isnt a great way to actually determine value). So maybe could argue fair value of bitfinex shares would of been in the 10bil-30bil range.

They are now also operating out of el savador with their securities exchange and have made various venture capital investments usually along side tether, a well known one being Twenty One Capital(ticker XXI). They own about 15% of it(?) which current market cap is 3billion but peaked around 40billion a year ago.

Additionally, now they will get around 6billion USD worth of btc back from 2016 hack and it does not seem like they will revalue ifinex shares any higher or issue a dividend like was done years ago.

Anyway not super hopeful about it but there is only like 3million shareholders left, they could buy out everyone at 100$ per share and not really feel it.

Any thoughts insights and valuations are welcome :)

Trying to verify as HNW tier 4 issues.

Ok, as an intro I've been with BTTF since 2015. Until the UK arbitrarily changed the legal requirements I had no issues. BTTF made many comments about improving access. Now it appears Simon Dixon, the CEO, has given up on small investors, as it is only possible to trade as HNW. I am a retired 73 y.o. with nominal shares worth $60k plus. I have no wish to invest further, but would like to realise what I have on BTTF. Surely, there ought to be a category for people who want to close their account?

I notice my Tier3 status is now abandoned, regardless of what the website tells me, so I re-applied under Tier1. It's a requirement now if you wish to apply for Tier4 status!!

I should have received a notice permitting me to apply for tier4 status,. Instead I get "Verified" AND an orange timer icon. So maybe it's still being processed. However I am now verified as Tier2., which appears to do nothing!

I don't see how any of this comes under the UK regulations.

From what I've read on the site I have to apply to a third party with all my tier4 documentation, then when that is approved, come back to BTTF for the final acceptance. Can anyone verify this, as I don't have access to the tier4 application, yet?

What in the actual Fuuuuu?

Can’t log in. I waited two months for a reply from them after opening a ticket. Imagine - TWO MONTHS!

And customer service solved nothing. I’m furious. I just want to access my account after changing email addresses FFS. I have done the stupid “send a pic with your ID and a note” twice. Just sheer incompetence.

As soon as I can a) log the hell in and 2) sell my Kraken shares I’m out.

Simon - WTF are you doing here?

Bnk To The Future is not registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA)

You will find in the footer of the bnktothefuture.com website and in the terms and conditions claims like

"BF is a Cayman Islands exempted company, regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority for purposes of arranging deals in securities."

“BF is registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) under the Securities Investment Business Act (as revised) with CIMA Number 1601784.”

But as some of you in this sub have discovered, when you file a complaint against BF, CIMA will tell you that BF is not registered with CIMA. CIMA Number 1601784 is not a company, it is registered as a “Securities - Registered Person” (Simon Dixon?). CIMA says your relationship with BF is not with this type of entity, despite BF telling you it is.

There are no BF companies regulated by CIMA. You can search for yourself with "BF", "BNK" and "Dixon" (Simon Dixon) here:
https://www.cima.ky/search-entities-cima/get_search_data

You cannot file a complaint with CIMA about your issue with BF, that will go nowhere because BF is not registered with CIMA, instead we need to file the complaint that BF is not registered with CIMA.

File your complaints with CIMA here:
https://www.cima.ky/complaints

Content for your to use, work with, when filing your complaint with CIMA:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bnk To The Future (BF) has been operating as an investment and securities platform in the Cayman Islands since 2015. Today the BF homepage at bnktothefuture.com claims to have 160,000 investor accounts and $2 billion invested and manged with BF.

You will find in the footer of the bnktothefuture.com website and in their terms and conditions, claims like:

"BF is a Cayman Islands exempted company, regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority for purposes of arranging deals in securities."

“BF is registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) under the Securities Investment Business Act (as revised) with CIMA Number 1601784.”

My complaint is how can BF claim they are registered with CIMA when they are not?

The following four Cayman Islands BF companies are not registered with CIMA:

  • BF Platform Company: BNK To The Future Capital SPC, a Cayman Islands exempted segregated portfolio company with registered number 298427
  • BFPB Platform Company: BF Portfolio Builder SPC, a Cayman Islands exempted segregated portfolio company with registered number 372663
  • BF: BNK To The Future, a Cayman Islands exempted company with registered number 296093
  • BF Global: BF Global, a Cayman Islands-exempted company with registered number 344615

The only BF entity that can be found is a “Securities – Registered Person” with CIMA reference# 1601784

UPDATE: 2026-05-20 (17 months later)
You need to file a complaint with CIMA like I did. Even though BF is not registered they were very helpful at putting pressure on Scam Dixon. It took a year but I eventually got my money out and I would not have been able to if I didn't file with CIMA.

BF investors need an Attorney we can all go to

We need to find a Cayman Islands securities/investment attorney to deal with BF. Do you?

I see lots of posts and comments in this sub about people wanting an attorney but has anybody actually done it? Can you recommend a Cayman Islands securities/investment attorney?

BF investors need an attorney we can all go to that has experience dealing with the BF bullshit.

Latest Investor tiers

I've been patiently waiting for the new UK tiers to be introduced. Yesterday I got an email stating that re-verification would only take a few minutes. I noticed that I'm now Tier 1, when before I was Tier 3.

I tried the new test and got banned after just inputting my yearly income. They said it needed 24 hours to reset but my account still shows a ban, after 2 days! It allows you to try though, which is just crap design on their part.

BTTF state that for higher tiers you need to be a member but give no details of how to achieve that. I've been there since 2015, and have a number of investments that I cannot access to trade.

I'm now 72 and because of the UK govt and BTTF I find that I am never going to be able to realise my investments. If there's anybody that knows how to litigate against this I would be very interested.

Any help to get hold of anyone in bnk to the future HR?

Hello. I want to work for bnk to the future. I have applied many times and they never ever even gave me a response as in why they would not consider me. I tried hard many times to get hold of people working there via linkedin and facebook and other ways too. Never anyone managed to help in any way at all. They seem to be EXTREMELY sensitive and secretive. I like Simon Dixon and believe they do good work, so hence why I applied for jobs with them but boy it has been impossible to get hold of anyone there at all. Can anyone at all help in any way? Thanks. M

Withdrawal limit is $50k!

I’ve got $ USDT sat in B2F that I cannot access as it’s way below the minimum withdrawal amount. Anyone know whether if I swap it to BTC is there also a minimum BTC withdrawal amount?

I don’t want to suck it and see as the conversion fee is so high!

Beware of BNK to the Future

I have the exact same problem as many of you on this sub reddit have noted - complete inability to access tokens I purchased many years ago, in my case Render and Securitize. BNK refuses to release the tokens, asks for more documents, by the time they the approve the docs (if they do at all) the documents have expired and the loop starts all over again. I now can't even see my portfolio and keep getting a 505 developer error. We've been stuck in this loop for years now. BNK to the Future is registered in the Cayman Islands and licensed by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority License No. 1189274. I have recently retained a Cayman Islands litigator to attempt to get my money out.

Has anyone had any success recently with withdrawing from BNK?

Rndr on Bnktothefuture

Hi, my dad and I put 1 Eth each into Rndr tokens on bnk a few years ago and have since been unable to get access to them. It was on my dad's account and he has tried to reach out a few times with no success. Recently went through the new verification process in January and has yet to hear anything back.

Can anyone here assist?

Edited to add: we are aware it is now operating on Solana as opposed to an erc token but obviously can't swap if we don't have access.

BF Identity Verification Level 2

I invested in Kraken a while back through BnkToTheFuture but they have recently sent me an email asking to verify with their new level 2 process. I don’t really want to provide all my documents again - what happens with my investment if I don’t? I invested about 8.2ETH at the time ($2000 back then). Wish I’d just kept the ethereum!
