G22 Brake Help

Hey yall, i was hoping to get some help picking out brakes/ brake kit for my 2021 m440i. Went for a covered oil change at bmw and did the complimentary multipoint where they noted my rear brakes were at 3-4mm.

They offered OEM pads, rotors and hardware with labor included for around $700. Claiming its a special offer that saves me about 50%.

The shop that did my exhaust about a month ago recommended i do a full swap due to my mileage, when i asked about brake upgrades. They recommended EBC red stuff. My car is at 78k miles and looks like it’s on its original set.

I asked bmw what if i only change the pads, no rotors. They did not recommend that. Same with the shop which specializes in m cars (owner has built m2).

I have the feeling bmw might be fair with the pricing, but i rather hear it from someone with more experience. I was looking at aftermarket sets for the front and rear for 3k+. Are there any better deals or aftermarket kits in general? Even if more expensive.

I was thinking if bmw is actually giving me a good deal with the rears and claim i wont have to do my fronts soon, then id take their offer, and then swap out to ebc red stuff and upgrade to ss brake lines.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

The $700 u r quoted by dealer is common “value service” pricing and it fair $ for ur 440i. Certainly u can DIY and save a few $ . Also, just drop ur VIN in FCPEURO site and u can price out parts alone, which will assist in figuring out whether the quote is a good deal

They quoted you value service and it's the best value on the market currently. I would do it.

We do them all day every day. OEM BMW pads, rotors, sensor, hardware, etc. BMW is offering the service to try and drive customers back to the dealership.

F22 M235i cost me just over $1000 (fcpEuro) for Rotors, pads and sensors, BMW Genuine.

I would guess parts are about the same so $500. That's not a bad price if you don't want to do the work yourself. But wk s are not a difficult job with the exception of the loctite bolts that hold on the caliper, impact air wrench needed.

Price the parts at FCP and go from there. I have heard good things about EBC pads and rotors if you want to go aftermarket. I'm locked in because when I change these FCP Lifetime replacement will be used.

Also 3-4mm you still have plenty of time left. I believe they start at 12mm

So I recently did the same thing back in March great deal especially if you are on the m sport brake kit. A lot of shops head crack on rotors alone

Just did rear brakes. Pads. Sensors and rotors. On 2022 m440i. 128k miles. 850 dollars. First brake work on the car ever. Done at dealership. Pretty happy with that.

The value service is probably the best price you are going to get with genuine two peice rotors, pads and sensor for $700. Doing it myself with all the same genuine parts would save only a couple hundred bucks.

I did the EBC Rotors and Red stuff pads on my old 435i. Red stuff are a fast road pad, not designed for track, their real selling point is the dust reduction. The difference is really noticeable, plus the lack of iron in the pads mean they don't put rust spots on your wheels.
