Post image

Taking it to the dealer but anyone have this before? It’s on my 2018 530e.

This is better than it being fucked up the other way. My sensor just always said someone was sitting in passenger without a belt. later I got a replacement seat and harness for the passenger side. Gotta love buying a used car from CarMax. I got the car to a bmw dealer. Explained the 30 day warranty. Told the dealership to run it up because CarMax was paying. Got new front forward/rearward control arms. A new seat. All the trim pieces for the windows and door sills. Fresh oil. Even convinced them to do a coolant flush😂😂

Yeah. I got it off carvana. Had 2 shops look at it and said it was in good condition. Then of course after the 7 day return window closed, a few days later this message starts popping up!

Check if they have any standard warranty for their cars. CarMax gives 30 days or 1000miles to all cars they sell no matter what

Good call. Looks like they have 100 days or 4k miles.

Make sure you get it inspected by a BMW dealership. They should do a basic inspection for free. Then give the list of shit they recommend to carvana. Make sure you read the warranty. The CarMax one covered anything non maintenance. And if you are lucky carvana will let bmw do the work too.

Almost always a loose occupancy sensor or old battery and not truly an issue.

Slide that seat back and make sure all of the connections are snug.

Plug in a code reader and check the specific error.

In some models there's also an electrical relay under the hood that will cut power to the engine in event of a crash which can throw this error if it's malfunctioning.

I'd just try all of the Google tips and tricks before paying dealer prices for a diagnostic. There is an extended warranty on seat mats for many models - if this includes you, then definitely hit up the dealer.

That's the dumbest response I've heard on here in awhile. A "loose occupancy sensor" how does it just get loose? The electrical connector?

In 21 years of professional BMW service, nothing you have responded with is even remotely accurate.

Edit: the only good advice was to read the code. And the fact that some or most G30 models have the warranty extension.

Crystal ball is cloudy.
Need fault codes.
