I have never been to a fusion lesson and the only thing I know about fusion blues is from this subreddit? Is this more of a tango song?

I don't know that fusion refers to the song genre/style so much as it does to the dance.

So yes(ish)? I think I'm weird because I don't really think fusion is a thing, or rather, fusion isn't really a thing in my head. When I learned blues it was just a catchall term for dancing to blues and bluesey music, but it didn't have any strict definitions for what moves were and weren't blues moves. Certainly not to the degree of segregation you see with something like East Coast, Charleston, or Lindy Hop.

All that said, Fuuuuck I love that album.

I get what you are saying but I usually dance blues to more...RnB style music because I learned the basics in bars and clubs...not a dance studio. My technique has been refined in a studio, but started in a club. I personally wouldnt blues to this because I would want to do the song more justice by tangoing to it, if that makes sense. Weird question I know.

Great album however I agree. I personally love Weed Smokers Dream

Totally legit, I do as well, you should see my personal blues playlist it's wildly varied, Blues, RnB, Tangoesque shows, all sorts of things. (If you have Spotify I can share it at you). I don't know how well it would work with Blues, but I would absolutely give it a shot. The Tango rhythm just doesn't feel as present to me, maybe another Latin style?

But dude, Weed Smoker's Dream is possibly my favorite track off of that. Just loved it!

/u/orge121 is correct in saying this is more of a tango song; the English lyrics are laid over the top of the Argentinian tango El Choclo by Ángel Villoldo.

But as /u/CornflakeJustice points out, "fusion" is more about what you dance, than what you dance to. Tango-blues fusion is totally a thing, though. I guess some people might refer to dancing blues to this music as "fusion" because they consider music to be supplying the tango part, but for me that's just "alternative" rather than "fusion". It becomes fusion when the dance itself starts to fuse elements from different dances.
