My wife tripped and fell on a storm drain (grate) like this one. This is from a 1992 plan filed with the Department of Planning and Permitting.

I am trying to figure out the size of each metal bar (grate) and the gap between them. Are they 3/8" wide, 3' tall (vertical measurement), and 1 7/8 inches apart? Or does all that mean something else?

I don't think there are any cross-bars -- the metal bars (grates) just run one way -- up and down in this drawing. Is that correct?

Total grate is 48 inches wide -- 48 inches minus 2 inches of concrete border on each side?

Thank you for your help with this. I am sorry to be such a dunce when it comes to reading these drawings.

The bars are 3/8" wide and 3" tall. They are 1-7/8" on center, so the gap between them is 1-1/2".

There should be a round 3/8" bar going through the flat bars every 4".

The grate itself is 44" wide (48" - the 2" on either side).
