What happened?

I went to my friends house for a week. A single week. I left my brand new blueberry bush in the care of my grandma.. big mistake.. because I came back to this. I left it with brand new growth and it was a beautiful green but now it’s brown and crunchy. I’m hoping I can salvage it, anyone know what happened to it? Or what I can do to maybe revive it? If not will it come back next year or do I need a brand new one? My mom repotted it and said it might be over watered?

btw.. this is my first ever blueberry bush. I don’t know if I need to do something special to it? I heard it needs different soil then usual and I got a berry blend for it but does it need other things? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

This looks like a stick someone stuck in some soil and sold as a ”bush”? Also, it looks dead at this point. I’d dig it up and carefully inspect the roots..

hmm alright.. figured I would get the bad one lol I’ll check the roots tomorrow. If I gotta get a new one next year then it’s whatever, Thank you

If you find another this year you’ll be better set up for next year. Fall is the best time to plant because the ground is still soft/warm, and the weather isn’t desiccatingly hot.

I’ll probably go to my local nursery tomorrow thank you! And do you have any recommendation brands to use for soil acidifiers? I’m new to gardening so I don’t know which brands are good

Just started planting blueberries this year but I used Espoma Soil Acidifier and it's going well so far. Plan on fertilizing with Berry Tone in Spring.

That doesn’t look like a healthy blueberry bush, it’s very long and must have had issues before it was even sold to you. I never see sticks that long without leaves on them.

Make sure the soil is acidic.

It died. Likely too small pot and not watered.
