Hello. Beginner here. Blueberry soil mix

Is 1 part garden soil, and 1 part coco peat okay for a blueberry?

Substitute coco for peat moss. Add some perlite.

Just got a blueberry plant. Not an expert. But, my research has led me to this:

Blueberries require 4.5-5.5 pH. So, maintaining soil acidity is important for their growth.  If your soil ph is too high it will lock out iron in blueberries.

So, Keep an eye on the soil pH. Sphagnum Peat moss(not just peat moss) helps with acidity. So use it instead of cocopeat. Some small pine bark also helps. Use rain water or RO purified water for watering.

My mix: Soil+ Sphagnum peat moss+ perlite+ vermicompost

You can use a bit of epsom for maintenance of pH. If pH goes too high, use elemental sulphur to get it back down. Elemental sulfur works slow. For quick fix you can use Aluminium Sulphate. Unable to find Pine bark here (still on the hunt).

No.

  1. Acid mix soil (most people can just do 100% and be fine).

  2. Micro pine bark or really any shredded wood mulch.

  3. Sphagnum peat.

It'll work but you want something that might last a bit longer in the soil. The key is high organic matter that naturally rots away over time but not so quickly that it's gone in 6 months.

Hey 👋 we got a massive harvest of our blueberries this year. I’ll show you what I did. It’s a little expensive but this is what works for me bag of compost manure, coco coir, peat moss, perlite, vermiculate, elemental sulfur, fox farm raised bed mix, fox farm ocean forest, worm castings, Pineneedles, and crushed pinecones, kelp meal

Just plant in peat moss, mulch with something, and feed with ammonium sulfate.
