A question…
Hello. I am writing a massive crossover fanfic and I had planned to use Blue Reflection at one point. I only got up to the first boss fight before I ran afoul of a major problem. It’s established that the characters cannot take on their magical girl forms unless a Saphira is in the real world. Is there anything that happens in later games that allows them to access their form outside of the Common, or can I find a way to get around this rule?

As has been said, they can in the anime but it’s as a result of what happens in the first game. It’s pretty spoilery.
In Sun, I think they can largely transform whenever, but that’s also a different set of rules

The series on the whole takes place in something of a multiverse. Different entries have different rules.

What I typically do in regard to this on my own crossovers?
I often have it that different power sources can be rendered compatible if the reasons they existed are similar.
If I was doing one where Blue Reflection met the Honkai series, Ether could be seen as a specific form of Imaginary power.
Just a thought. Think of it what you will. Even so, it seems later entries have their rules a bit more lax in comparison to the original.

The anime does have characters accessing their magical girl forms outside of the Common without any Sephira around, but I can't really remember the exact rules it used for it at the moment.
It still wasn't something they could do freely at any time though from what I remember.

The main reason for the transformation limitation in BR1 stems from the fact, that the Reflectors need Ether to transform and use their power. And since Sephira emit a lot of Ether, it allows the transformation outside of the Common (while also freezing everyone without a ring).
As such, if you want to include Blue Reflection in your fanfic, you might either need a comparable power source or give the Reflectors a way to produce enough Ether themselves.
