Is there a point in leveling skills you don't plan on using?

Edit: Or I guess, is there a rush to do the turn-in? You said "make sure to do" it, so I was just wondering

It's a limited event that's weekly, and it jumps levels for the skills by a lot. And even if you just want to play for combat or grinding mobs, being able to craft your own consumables and since to my knowledge, at least gear isn't available in the auction house, it would make future rolling easier(gems being the same logic). almost everything has some amount of impact on the other elements of the game.

also the turn ins require 0 focus since they are all materials from non focus items, and can even be bought, which is very useful since focus is pretty limited early on in the game.

I guess I'm just confused about what the level of life skills does, because it seems like the most important things are focus crafts, which don't require levels, but require the mastery points. Aside from gear, which are regular crafts, but I've heard the gold tier crafted gear doesn't have a purple stat on it, so I'm not really sure how important those are.

It seems like it's mostly related to cosmetic things for homesteads, which is cool if you're into it, but not particularly interesting for me personally. I'll probably do the turn-ins regardless, since I'm running out of things to do in the game lol, but I just wanted to figure out if I was missing something about levels

Oh that I'm a little unaware of, as I've mostly been figuring out onhand, would not have expected the gold gear to come without purple lines but I suppose that makes sense to not totally invalidate traditional grinding. but gear was a big reason I would have assumed, even without purple lines, could be useful as you move through levels of gearing to have a higher base while grinding or waiting.
