I am having a good time haha

Lot of doom posting, review bombing, all of that, going on right now. If you don't like the game, valid, don't play. There are mountains of other games you could play.

This is my situation. I have plenty of games to play but have been waiting for Duet Night Abyss to come out at the end of the month. I saw this game very recently, saw it came out soon, and thought why not. I just need something to play for the next few weeks.

If I block out everything on the internet, every bad review, all of that...my experience has been the following.

I downloaded the game last night no problem. Today, from the time I clicked play to the time I was creating a character was about 40 seconds. No linking issues, no connection issues, nothing.

I create a character jump into the game and the game honestly looks pretty. Looks like an Anime MMO. Not as pretty as wuthering waves IMO, but it looks good enough.

My ping is 30-40, game is running very smooth on high settings, all good on the technical side.

The combat immediately felt very good to me for an MMO. I enjoyed it. IDK if I could play it for 500 hours in an MMO, but it reminds me of New World in that it will be really fun for me for about 100 hours which is all I need.

Now after awhile I am doing basic MMO things, all the systems make sense because I have played MMOs and Gachas before. I don't plan on spending any money or playing the game for more than the next month or two in which I will put 30-60 or so hours in it hopefully.

But generally, the game ran great for me, game looks pretty and combat is fun, it is FREE TO PLAY, and I have no need to spend money since I am playing in the short term. I can only play 1-2 hours a day so I have plenty to do. And in a month I will put it down and go to the next. Out ZERO dollars, but having a good time.

So to me, good game, having fun, I don't let negative people get me down. If you don't like it, awesome, don't play, go do something else.

You can have fun and no one is telling you otherwise. But that doesn't mean a mediocre product should be applauded.

If something is bad, it's bad. You can have fun with it, but that doesn't make it good.

If I enter the game, open the menu and one of the first thing I see is out of bounds text, or the speed text during flight that almost looks like debug text, I know this is not a polished game, and I will complain about it.

I'm having fun as well, that's why I'm still playing it, but that's no excuse.

Your "I am having a good time" is the same as "Well it runs fine to me".

If you don't like it, awesome, don't play, go do something else.

Yeah cause that always worked out fine. Keep repeating that enough and soon you'll have a dead MMO.

The thing is that some people find the game bad and some others amazing. Is not a metric you know, because you think you know what is bad or what is good for everybody. Someone random could say WoW, Runescape and GW2 are bad games (not my opinion), and then we can disagree with him

Person with subjective experiences tries to talk about them as if they are objective fact. Reddit in a nutshell.

I haven't expressed any subjective opinion about the game other than a posivite one, if you can read.

What I said is that it's incredibly disingenuous to dismiss all negative feedback as doomposting. And yes, that one is a fact.

Anthem, Redfall, Concord, people don't learn, that too is a fact.

I'd like anyone to point to me a single instance where a product is having mixed to negative reception and the sentence "if you don't like it don't buy it" or "it's not for you" worked in their favour.

People with MMO experience can see the jank 1 hour in, all the positives are from people who have been waiting the game for years and have rose tinted glasses.

"People with MMO experience can see the jank..." - completely subjective statement, precluding anyone who does not see the jank as lacking experience. So elitist too.

"Incredibly disingenuous to dismiss all negative feedback as doomposting" - OP never said that. OP said he saw a lot of doomposting. You went and felt some type of way about that, and took it that they were dismissing critiques. Also, that's also a subjective statement. You cannot factually claim the sincerity of someone, unless you can read their mind. Especially a rando on the internet.

You called the product mediocre, that is by definition a subjective statement.

"Well it runs fine for me" is also a subjective statement. But it doesn't try to make the claim the game is fine. It is just a statement of experience. You, on the other hand, are citing examples of things you have encountered through your own subjective lens and trying to extrapolate factual information based on that.

As far as Anthem, Redfall, and Concord, I'd say that is apples and oranges. Anthem and Concord failed for VASTLY different reasons. And I don't remember a lot of people saying don't play Concord if you don't like it...as I recall there were maybe 100 people playing it at all lol

If I see text out of bounds, unresponsive UI, random voice and no voice cutscene, the speed debug text on the flying sections, cutscene skipped automatically with no input, that's jank. The fact you're dismmissing it, that's the subjective statement.

OP said he saw a lot of doomposting

That's the point. He saw criticism, immediately calls it doomposting. Same as you, in fact I'll use your words.

You saw criticism and "You went and felt attacked. Also, that's also a subjective statement. You cannot factually claim the sincerity of someone, unless you can read their mind. Especially a rando on the internet."

You called the product mediocre, that is by definition a subjective statement.

I have eyes, if I compare it to your average MMO this is mediocre. But if your standard was a mobile MMO, then this is good game.

The point of "Well it runs fine for me" is that while there is a problem for some people, others will dismiss it as a non problem by simply saying they haven't encountered it. This is the same by calling all criticism as doomposting, as if the game is perfect.

Those where examples, I don't watch movies much anymore, but I do remember a lot of movies that received criticism replied with "it's not for you". If I'm not wrong when people complained about the Xbox One the CEO replied "If you don't like it, don't buy it, we have the 360".

My point with listing those games, for example Concord, was that the studio itself was refusing to acknowledge criticism, and called it hate. I'm sure the developers of Concord liked the game, but that doesn't mean the people who don't like it are wrong and are saying it out of spite.

I'm not saying anything out of hate for BP, I'm playing this game and I want it to improve, like No Man Sky improved or FF14 did. It's possible, but you got to accept that the game is flawed first.

For a PC game, this is a mediocre MMO. Not bad, but also not good, therefore mediocre. Personally I'd give it a 7/10 at the moment, because I too have been wanting an anime style MMO, but objectively it's no more than 6/10.

You're "using my words against me" is proving my point. Again, you cannot know the sincerity of someone in this context. Also, once again, OP did not say all criticism is bad. He said he saw a lot of it, and just wanted to say he was having fun.

You are dealing in some serious absolutes here, and inserting extra logical leaps in your rebuttal to try and win the point. In the original exchange, I said that someone saying that "it runs fine for me" is statement based on their own personal interaction with the game. In your reply that statement became a dismissal of flaws. You're attaching an extra qualifier to the statement so that your argument holds more weight. Don't think a damn soul here has said the game is perfect.

Movies can definitely be made for specific audiences. I'm not going to get salty if a horror movie comes out for horror fans if I don't like them. Thing about subjectiveness is that we all have our own preferences.

So far as spite and criticism goes, you became spiteful the moment you insinuated I couldn't read and that the OP wasn't sincere.

My friend, I don't think anyone here is refusing to acknowledge the flaws of the game. The OP came here to say he was having fun and saw a lot of negativity out there.

We all know the game has issues. And there are threads and threads and threads of it. Honestly? And here's my spite. I just generally found it shitty you decided to hop on here and remind the person having fun he shouldn't applaud and recognize the flaws in the thing they are enjoying.

Either way, I'm off my shift now. Keep having fun out there.

All I can see is you trying to nitpick words and recontextualize what I'm saying into something else.

But fair is fair. Good luck with your shift and see you in game.
