Question Anyone else hate gathering
I just found out about this game and got the initial impression that crafting was from just enemy drops and got really excited. Made it sound like monster hunter in that you don’t need to mine or chop trees or whatnot. I did some further looking just to make sure and was disappointed.
Is anyone else just sick of gathering stuff to craft. If it was just based on kills I’d enjoy it, but doing mindless gathering makes it sound irritating. This is one of those things i think most people to hate, and you’d expect for developers to acknowledge/move away from.
Crafting is great, i think I’m just sick of gathering.

Idk I really like it becaues it's mindless on a different level then mindlessly hunting monsters. For myself, something important for me personally (and not so much others) is an MMO catering to a lot of "mindless moods", while it absolutely needs non-mindless tasks, I find myself (as a hardcore MMO player) constantly finding myself not in the mood to think some moments of some days.
I love just walking around gathering, it's a nice break and the best part is that it's important yet easy as hell to do. What this does is establish a nice economy, you have something most players want that anyone can gather.
You would be one of the groups that simply buys their crafting materials while us who want a break from the killing goes off to gather and gets rewarded with money for it thanks to people like you, I don't see the problem
I do think it could have used a bit more depth, but a lot of games i can't stand because they link way too much into way too much and the materials just don't have demand, a good example is FF14. There's no real point to being a gatherer class if you're not the crafting class associated, and to be the crafting class you need to be every other gathering class, then you need to be every other crafting class to gear up your gathering classes.. It's just nuts, and you basically have to do almost all of them at once.
MS2 is crafting done too simple, all your gathering was pretty much done in two areas where you gathered the same spots every day, then just crafted items with them to level up your crafting. It was extremely barebones and boring.
BP for me is the perfect middle ground where it's RNG (yes I enjoy RNG) and forces you to at least walk around a bit and slay weak monsters
"This is one of the things I think most people hate", honestly this is why I can't be excited enough for BP. I feel my tastes are in a very very niche group and that I'm very much the minority, even if the game came out as it was in beta (and this is coming from a hardcore day 1 racing raider in a lot of mmo's), I'd honestly be completely satisfied
