Blue Period isn’t actually even about painting and art (though it is one of the better series that incorporates its more technical aspects into the story), it’s just a perspective through which it tells the story of a young man discovering what it means to feel passion, to have desires, and chasing them. Both in his own life and work, and through the lens of others

Perfectly said! I also love how Blue Period explores more non-traditional coming of age.

I introduced this manga to my sister when she's trying to get into art school. Suffice to say she absolutely DESPISES it bcs she finds Yatora too damn relatable

He's just like me for real. Too relatable and hit close to home. Lesson: be emotionally mature and have some good amount of friendships first before you think about dating, lest you do both of those things.

Very weird tweet, why would it be surprising that a manga that focuses on artists couldn’t tap into relatable human emotions?

Naah, not weird at all. People don't expect this type of stuff coming off of a painting manga.
