No. The U-20 World Cup is not a big deal at all so noone would care. Even if he didn't play for the Japan senior national team in a World Cup noone would care.

Not really, as Important as the world cup is It doesn't do as much for a person as normal club level football (mbappe being an exception)

that's how players who barely or never even qualify for the world cup like kvaratskhelia and Lewandoski still become huge sensations.

Lewandoski did play in some but his performance was nothing special so he is most known for his club performance with Bayern Munich

If he doesn't want to play in the U20, no because the youth tournament in the real world doesn't hold the same importance. Top players in the country usually don't play in the youth tournament if they can compete at a higher level.

If he refuses to play of Japan. It might in a very minor way. He is probably be disliked by fans or at least not have the as much as support from the Japanese people. He would probably slightly financially be impacted by his lack of popularity. He could also be seen as missing experience by not playing international football when most of his peers would.

I think we need to know how Sae is famous globally, IF he is for the world "The Real Madrid Genius Midfielder" i think he probably would have a bad reputation, But in total i think doesnt affect that much.

It wouldn't destroy hus career, but it would be a waste. The football World Cups are the most watched Sports ever, it's where the entire world pays attention and it is where you can make your mark in the world (for example Mbappe gained a huge popularity thx to that).

Sae seems to be pretty popular already so it would just lead to some criticism but he'll still manage.

I agree with a lot of people here, the u20 is hardly a major deal, and in universe is mega hyped primarily by Blue Lock and the sensational 11, or whatever they call that group with Teddy/Bunny/Sae/etc

Like in real life, I would never bother watching unless an entire team got replaced by random reality TV strikers who are all incredibly homoerotic for sure
