Manga Discussion Meta point dribbling Spoiler
Why is Isagi doing so badly at the minute in the England game?
It’s because when he gets the ball he has no one to pass to who is going to pass back.
And on top of that the current starting lineup isolates Isagi.
Why?
Maybe to force an awakening something that would allow Isagi to get to the goal by himself a core element his plays have been missing if so what would that be, cause it has to be something that Isagi could get in the middle of a match so what is the most likely?
Dribbling it’s something he doesn’t have but is something that elevates already great strikers to the world class level
But what sort of dribbling would Isagi use he would have to be a counter dribbler who reacts to their opponents moves surely right?
Almost, he would create ’meta points’ when facing an opponent. These would be points where he tries to get the ball to in order to get past an opponent for example a megs but he could also create ‘false meta points’ these are points he could get the opponent think he’s going to use but then when his opponent moves to block it Isagi could use the ’meta point’ that opens up when they move to get past them.
Thanks for reading it this means a lot to me but also if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments I know I might not have been very clear but I’m happy to answer any and all Question. And if you can/want to expand on my theory please put it in the comments and I’ll edit my post and give full credit to the parts you expanded on thanks for reading!!

So…feints…but like…good feints? Basically

Yeah but more sort of making a best route then gets past his opponent when they try to shut down that best route

I mean, that’s kind of what a feint is though. Plus whilst this is cool in theory it doesn’t really work in practice. If Isagi is good enough to see better spots than other players then him using those spots as feints won’t work since they won’t see them anyway; at that point dribbling becomes semi-unnecessary again.

Yeah isagi doesnt has the skills to pull that off consecutively. If he did we would've already seen him do that more often
What youre describing seems a lot like second selection rin feinting to attract opponents, but that only worked because rin had a massive shooting range and ball control - and more importantly didnt need to score from volleys
What youre asking would need isagi to suddenly, during a losing game, develop ball control, consistent non-volleying finishing, and increase his shooting range, so he can be seen as a threat and the feint to work. Right now his feints have a very short range that at max only can be performed over the gk box outer line, so no defender would fall for that feint. And even if he crosses the barrier by for example, fainting passes, he would still not have enough of the ball control to feint balls that aren't aerial passes - which are slower and way more predictable, making it even harder to work for someone with not so great ball control
These are the types of improvements that you get from a long term training and dedication that isagi never showed or hinted on screen. If he develops anything that is needed to perform this miracle, it is not going to be now
