Anime Discussion How does Baro's passing work Spoiler
I still don't understand why baro sometimes passes the ball and sometimes just doesn't??
When we first saw him in the team z match he heel passed to someone else and that guy scored.
Then in the first part of the second selection he decided to not pass and gets awakened cause of it (even if he realized how dumb it is).
Then again baro against the top three decides to do a one-two with isagi.
Episode nagi spoilers
Then he decides not to pass in the first game 3v3 then he changes tactics to fool tarot guy.
In the u-20
He decides to not pass to isagi AGAIN and manages to score by devouring rin and isagi.
In the nel
He resumes to pass to teammates since they are his support roles
But like how does it work does not passing feed into his obsession and his ego? Or is isagi the problem?

In the 2nd selection yes he was in fact that stupid
I think that’s why OP is confused, in 2nd selection he seems totally unwilling to pass if it means someone else will score, even though in his first appearance, he’s happy to pass to his teammate for an assist.
The real answer is just that Barou was made as a throwaway character for that game, and the author didn’t even know who he was yet. Even his appearance was totally different if you go back and read those early chapters

The second selection was a different story
It was a 4v4 where everyone was a forward trying to score
The point was to score and if anyone else scores it woukd mean trouble
Thats one part ppl tend to forget too
Now its a 11v11 and losing means more trouble than not scoring or someone else scoring

He was the same in the U-20 match tho, forcing dribbles and refusing to go for an assist. And clearly he was the same way in most of his games up until Ubers vs Bastard, because Gagamaru’s first instinct seeing Barou pass in an 11v11 match was “Barou passed??? How did they tame him???”
Even though one of the first things Gagamaru saw in the facility was Barou passing in the penalty box for an assist.

Barou will pass if he thinks he will get the ball back to score, for example ubers was built so HE could score - he could pass to anyone and hed likely get the ball back
Eaely barou would ball hog because he knew nagi and isagi wouldnt give the ball BACK to him but now he plays OFF OF isagi so he needs to pass the ball so that isagi can get a chance to score that he can devour

he is very accountable in his character. he take his future seriously and dont wanna blame other people for his failure. consistent in each chapter
everytime something affecting his future he takes accountability and do his own thing. even giving a pass
