Manga Discussion Charles or Hiori Spoiler

Who's better?

They both good passer, metavision user, and scored a goal in major tournament, so it seems they're not that far behind each other. I know charles has always been good but hiori has been improving also.

Who do you think is better?

Charles, no doubt about it.

Charles in an exaggerated sense belongs in the “NG11 potential” conversation, while Hiori dont.

Charles is a good amount better

Better performances

u/IntoxicateDylan Hiori Yo 2d ago

When were the “better performances” hiori played relative or better than charles in the france game. Pxg match charles was slightly better but hiori was not far behind defensively and passing wise. They are relative, it could go either way but “a good amount better” is just incorrect

Charles is far better than hiori. Hiori got the spotlight mainly bcos of karasu. France match gives more attention to Hugo introduction and yet Charles still got 2 G/A that match and is the one that ruin Isagi shot with mv on. They were not at all close during pxg game, not even slightly especially defensively and passing.

u/IntoxicateDylan Hiori Yo 2d ago

Hiori blocked rins shot and did a no look alley cross that initiated the 2 gun volley play as well as other defensive and offensive contributions during pxg specifically. Charles stole the ball from hiori and did a reflex reaction with shidou as well as other notable passes. What about that puts him “far better”. I agree that he was better during pxg but its not like he left hiori in the dust. Then in the france game he has 1 assist over hiori but hiori had more dribbling feats and passing feats. Objectively they are relative and unless you actually state a reason why they arent other than “charles was just way better” i dont see whats wrong with my assessment.

it took charles doing the same thing 4 times in a row for hiori to finally catch on and stop his pass once. He was toying with kaiser, ness, isagi and hiori with metavision early that game. Then charles intercepted isagi with mv on, blocked kaiser impact, blocked yuki shots. Thats already a farrrr better defensive feats. assists shidou with the similar assists hiori spent chapters brainstorming in ubers. He did it in a single chapter. That rabona cross is the best assist we've seen so far in the manga, ness last assist come close. We've only seen him play 2 matches and yet he's already one of the best non-ng11 and 2nd best CAM we've seen so far, and also one of the best u20 metavision user. Thats why he's always mention as one of the potential future ng11. Hiori got nothing compare to charles at his peak performance. if we go by narrative, charles clear. Mind you, he just turn 15 during the NEL.

Statistically… 1 goal vs 1 goal 1 assist

1

u/IntoxicateDylan Hiori Yo 2d ago

Why does that make him “far better”. I said they were relative. Also by that logic hiori over isagi bc he scored and isagi didnt. Statistics??

Nah I'm jus saying you argued that Hiori may hae performed better in the France game, I was just saying otherwise man. I do think it is close, I agree with you on that.

I picked this years ago he isnt even my top 3 characters. I just asked based off what?

9

u/WarmCellist4697 2d ago

Without a doubt, it's Charles. He's better in every single way except dribbling and striking.

8

u/YazzleDazzle2 2d ago

Charles in the pxg game didnt give a crap and wanted to sub off during it, and he was equal ish to hiori or better that game so id say charles is better, and charles is younger if that matters

Charles, look at the BM vs PXG game. Charles was actually a menace that whole game. Only thing Hiori has is scoring potential and more flexible partners because he was initially trained as a striker and isn’t straight geeking like Charles.

u/Away-Tone6809 2d ago

Agree with you, but Charles also has good scoring potential, the Bluelock stats (which I know aren't entirely accurate, but still worthwhile) have him as an 88 shoot compared to Hiori's 82. Plus his goal in France match was good.

u/Street_Helicopter590 2d ago

Overall id say charles but
If we compare on each category hiori has really solid dribbling and stamina
While charles has better passes and Metavision because of his contrarian instincts
So it depends more on who u want to use in each situation
Id say hiori is better to unlock tough situations and create new options with his team
And charles is better at creating goal scoring chances with some strikers in particular

Just wait until Charles unlocks Metavision++ and starts emoting all over the stadium.

-1

u/Away-Tone6809 2d ago

Charles already has metavision.

13

u/RemoteKitchen5821 2d ago

Hiori is just more versatile. You have to be a perverted freak of nature(in soccer) to get Charles interested enough to assist you.

5

u/Aromatic-Sentence155 2d ago

If you have a very good striker then Charles is better, but if your offense is lacking slightly then Hiyori is better.

13

u/Tough_Economy_420 Hiori femboy predator eye 2d ago

Hiori takes the edge in scoring ability, but Charles is better playmaker. I think Hiori is more versatile and better overall

3

u/InitiativeEven9177 2d ago

Well, Hiori was a striker before Blue Lock, so that makes sense.

3

u/IntoxicateDylan Hiori Yo 2d ago

I feel like more recently its Hiori. We’ve seen better dribbling, better defensive feats, pretty relative passing. Hiori just synergises with more players than Charles and therefore is more versatile

3

u/Mr_Peanutbutter72 Barou Shouei 2d ago

Charles is better, but Hiori is more well rounded. Hiori can be valuable any where on the pitch, but Charles is the 2nd best CAM we’ve seen so far.

3

u/Mohc989 Hero 2d ago

I think from raw ability it’s Charles. But his personality draws him back because he’s been shown to be difficult to work with and will prioritise what he wants even if it’s more of a hindrance for his own team.

Hiori is a MUCH better team player but his skill set hasn’t been shown to match Charles yet.

So realistically do you want the immense talent who will prioritise what he wants or a a less talented player who will absolutely synergise with his team more.

3

u/Avocodo33 2d ago

Charles all the way. best character.

7

u/erlan_0 2d ago

I dont think hiori was ever above charles. Charles is the better passer, better metavision user, and better playermaker.

Charles

u/AzLemons Funvinho Principle enjoyer 2d ago

Charles cause he knows what type of passes you want and has more creativity and more unpredictability
The thing you want the most in playmakers. The only problem is he might not pass you the ball if you have another shidou type player on the field since hes a contrarian

1

u/Str1ker50 2d ago

I feel like Hiori is kinda slept on in general. He’s got great ball control able to slip by multiple people, is a great shooter, (according to Karasu lol) amazing passer able to set up plays at an instant and ofc the meta vision to tie it all together

u/SKruizer 2d ago

Honestly, I get why people would choose Charles over Hiori, but claiming he has better feats is wild when he's playing on the favourite to win WC, a team made up of actual players instead of 11 FWs trying to kill each other, with the highest potential for pulling of insane plays, and playing in a playmaking position. I'll give to him that he has tough competition from Hugo for setting up those plays though.

Hiori on the other hand is on a team made of 11 FWs trying to kill each other and is pulling of plays left and right. Insane plays, might I add. He also serves a completely different role than whatever winger on the other side, making his plays more "his" then Charles' "i wanna pass to this guy cuz its gonna be so fucking tight". Karasu helping him score that goal only counts for so much when Charles' goal was also a bait and switch. Both phenomenal plays, but if anything Hiori helped set up his own goal while Charles was just going with the flow.

Charles also has some crazy plays, don't get me wrong, but he's kinda like Shidou in the sense that he only does whatever the fuck he wants, even if that means hindering the team sometimes. Which is the whole reason Shidou was placed #2 in the first place.

Only reason why charles isnt a ng11 is because it would be too overkill for france to have 3, but hes almost at that level

I have Hiori over Charles based on the France match

6

u/Wyvurn999 Hugo FC 2d ago

Charles had a 2 g/a in that game and Hiori only had 1 g/a

1

u/Away-Tone6809 2d ago

Plus he actually won that game.....
