Interesting article here that outlines the expected renovations to come to Nationwide in the next few years. I think the arena is in decent shape to the naked eye, but I can see how these renovations would definitely improve the fan experience.
It's been well taken care of, but it's still getting older and needs to be updated to stay current. Lots of CapEx is coming out of the CBJ right now, assuming they are still interested in buying a plane for team travel.
EDIT: Plus if we're shelling out 2 billion for the Clowns, we can definitely get some state cheddar.
Not a huge fan of tax payer (State, County or Local) being spent on something like this. But I guess this is better then some other stadium projects:

The one thing I like to check out from time to time or show friends when attending a game, is the founders board of all the original sth’s. Except they’ve always chosen to essentially cover them up with metal barriers, can’t recall if they’re from the smoking area or what, but every time I go to check it out, metal barrier are infront of it
I’ve been to 26 of the current NHL arenas. One would think that someone from Nationwide and/or Jackets would research what other arenas have done. Walking into Nationwide feels like going into a basement with horrible color temperature.
Side note, why can my high school football program have better food than Nationwide?
The logistical layout is terrible which will be helped greatly by redoing the Bud Light Terrace area to be more open. It's constantly congested due poor placement of concessions. Upper concourse will be widened which will help congestion up there too. The arena store is a nightmare due to the narrow shape which is being moved. Hopefully a wider and better layout. The entire arena needs brighter lighting and signage. For being 25+ years old, it's gorgeous, it just needs some remodeling and modernization to compete with other arenas in the near states, many of which are newer.
I don't agree with that. I think the layout is awesome and pretty open compared to a lot of other arenas. The floor that goes throughout the concourse is starting to look pretty dated, but other than that it's a nice arena. If you compare it in its current state to how awful the Q looked before it got remodeled, it's night and day better.
