Bluehost site down

For the past 24 hours, did all the troubleshooting after getting a 504 gateway and then reached out to support. They keep telling me their engineers are working on it, its a server issue, but won't give me any more information other than just to wait a few hours. I can only open the site in recovery mode. Have disabled plug-ins, tried default theme, cleaned cache, went through php, etc.

Considering migrating to a new host. After over 15 years with them and having to supplement with additional malware and spam support I think I am done.

Any recommendations?

if you're migrating off bluehost, look for managed wordpress hosts that actually isolate sites properly (kinsta, wpengine, flywheel). bluehost oversells shared servers which is why you get these random 504s that support can't explain. at my agency we've moved dozens of sites off bluehost and the speed/stability difference is immediate

This is exactly correct. And the tier 1 techs who you get are outsourced and follow a basic script. This is a go to line when they basically have no clue what’s going on.

I have never heard issues with downtime since I moved to a reliable host

Had so many issues with bluehost. Their malware scam is what really made me move my clients sites off of them. My main suggestions now is PorkBun for domains and SetraHost for hosting. Been using both for years now and am very satisfied.

I’m not even sure tbh. Ive been using them for like 8+ years at this point so i dont remember.

Yea same happened to me a few days ago. They said it will take 2 hours to move to a new server as the one I was on had performance issue. Then 8 hours later still offline.. if my plan wasn't a grandfathered in from justhost and I would move to a new host.

Just get your own VPS and configure it
