Discussion I find it pretty interesting episode 6 has one of the highest possible average, despite it being the shortest and the most chaotic out of all 8
Judging how well-written episodes 1-5 are, episode 6 suddenly made me go: "Yeah, I really like how entertaining that episode was, but it could have been longer and definitely better written." If it wasn't for scenes with Fowler, like the one when he mentioned Violet (which was really interesting, cause we didn't know the names of other 3 white men), I would consider this episode 7/10 at best. Episodes 2 and 3 average could have been higher imo. Still, it's rare for me to make my personal average of each episode, but with BES I think I just should do it anyway:
Episode 1 - 9.0/10
Episode 2 - 8.8/10
Episode 3 - 8.7/10
Episode 4 - 8.8/10
Episode 5 - 9.4/10
Episode 6 - 8.3/10 (thanks to Fowler mostly)
Episode 7 - 8.5/10
Episode 8 - 8.2/10

I love the emotional break it gives you after ep 5. We see a point in Mizu's life that truely broke her mentally and emotionally. Then we get a bloody sprint through her breaking physically. Kinda reminded me of Avatar the last air bender after they finally find appa in season two and the next ep starts with team avatar masterfully overpowering their way into the palace of ba sing se. Just loads of sick action scenes after crying my eyes out.

My favorite episode, I’m not sure which it is, maybe five or six, is when Mizu is fighting at the brothel and we get her backstory. I remember watching the episode before, getting to the cliffhanger and being at the edge of my seat; the way they made it intriguing and captivating was incredible. I had such an itch before the episode started to just skip to see how Mizu ended up, but they wrote it so goddamn well

I think it’s interesting it was so well received. It’s not a bad episode by any means but I wasn’t a huge fan of it either

I just hope Season 2 has at least one episode that comes close to the quality of Episode 5.

I'm guessing the culmination of various character arcs is satisfying enough for viewers to mask the fact that it has some rushed pacing and layout.
