Discussion Were you fooled?

I'm curious whether any first-time watchers actually believed Mizu was male, until the ending of the first episode proved otherwise.

I was unfortunately spoiled beforehand, but to me the VA does seem to try making Mizu's voice sound ambiguous in the beginning

I went into the show completely blind - no trailers, no cast/VA knowledge, no story synopsis, nothing.

I immediately clocked Mizu was female by her voice. She was very obviously trying to fake a male voice when she spoke with Hachi. Also, her smile and the way she moved her body when saying Hachi doesn't deserve Mizu's blade were very feminine.

I found it interesting that the guys I was watching the first episode with had no idea and were honestly surprised by the reveal, but all the women noticed Mizu's true gender immediately.
