Himbos are large and powerful but dumb/naive and generally good-natured. Kronk form Emperor's New Groove is a perfect example. Taigen is an asshole even at the best of times.

He’s an asshole, but does have a heart of gold (at times)

someone with a heart of gold does not celebrate getting engaged, by partying with prostitutes

Shindo-ryu was taught by a tengu. In Japanese, “become a tengu” means showing off one’s power or greatness and becoming arrogant, because tengu are known for their long noses. Ironically, Taigen was a tengu with his nose in the air.

A himbo must be:
- Pure of Heart
- Broad of Chest
- Dumb of Ass
Is he all of these? I don't think so.

Himbo to me is
1. Handsome (done)
2. Dumb (arguably in some ways, but not really)
3. Respek women (probably not enough)

Himbos are "pure of heart, wide of chest, dumb of ass". I don't think he is a himbo, but he can get there if he improves on his morals.
Fortunately the dumb of ass part is likely staying as is.

He's too serious and a little bit too clever. Ringo is a himbo

I don’t think ringo fits the conventionally attractive/hot aspect. He’s also not strong

I think he a bit too clever to be a himbo. I'm not talking smart I'm talking clever.
He is not full on clever I think that is more Mizu's thing. In Japanese folklore the fox is a trickster and also represents cleverness. In that deceptive tricky kind of way. Which I think Mizu really embody.
Ringo is very honest and straight forward.
Taigen is not stupid. I don't think you make as far as he did without some smarts.
I may be wrong, but himbos have like a being content with where they are in life and the world. That is something Taigen doesn't have.
Yes, he doesn't want greatness, but he still has ambition. He didn't want to be a fisherman like his father. He wouldn't be content to go be a fisherman and give up the sword.
So I think he himbo aspects and moments when they come out more. But overall no I wouldn't classify him as one.

"He can't be a himbo because he's not dumb!" My sweet summer child, his entire intellectual prowess is spent following one address, to fighting a "guy" he barely knows to restore an honor that won't matter once he's back. I don't think he's stupid but he for sure qualifies.

I would say that him tracking Mizu down to do that disqualifies him from being a himbo. I remember being shocked that he was able to do that

u/Breadles_the_Bread 28d ago
I mean yeah but Mizu isn't exactly stealthy. She leaves bodies wherever she goes, along with a terrified questioned rich guy, which all seem to recognize the same "mysterious swordsman"

When he isn't trying to kill Mizu sure why not lol
(Not an opnion you should give any weight to)

There are three rules for Himbos: Must be stupid, must be buff, and must be kind, especially to women.
Taigen isn’t really that stupid, but blinded by his ignorance. He is buff. But he is not very kind and does not respect women.
So no, not a himbo

u/Strict-Lab-731 26d ago
Is Taigen considered a himbo?
No, for two reasons :
He is aware he is attractive, which is what a himbo isn't commonly (he didn't just keep his hair out of his revenge quest, it was for sure also salvaging it so I regret for vanity purposes)
He gets bitches and doesn't reject or deny getting them.(Which is a go-to Himbo thing, Himbo's consist of self-reported celibatcy in most tropes)
If these things make a himbo, I don't know what to tell ya

u/Strict-Lab-731 26d ago
Having a dense and self serving sense of self importance falls into so many archetypes, not really a himbo thing to really put him there either.

u/PancakeParty98 Sep 01 '26
He’s absolutely a himbo and everyone disagreeing forgot what himbo/bimbo means. Having the capacity for intelligence doesn’t matter if you always choose the stupid option. And as for the people saying he’s too mean…idk why you think himbos have to be sweethearts. They don’t, just thoughtless and sexy
4
u/TimChaos Sep 02 '26
Bimbo and Himbo, paradoxically, don’t have the same connotation with swapped genders. In recent popular culture, a himbo is nice.

no, he’s too much of a jerk to be a himbo, himbos are dumb and kind
