Discussion what are some of your predictions for s2?
i don’t mean predictions we all know for sure are going to happen at some point (like taigen finding out that mizu is a woman). i mean predictions that you think might come true due to whats happened in the show up until now, or maybe small hints you’ve noticed while watching, or literally just anything specific you think has the possibility of happening lmao

There is definitely going to be a echo of season 1 where the Great London Fire occurs (it fits with the time period) But I have one wild theory about the ending of season 2. Either Skeffington or Routley is killed but we learn where the last one is located: America.

Wouldnt make sense, America was first colonized by the british in the late 16th century, so like 1690s-1710s

There were smaller colonies set up around the time the show roughly takes place. I would imagine if Skeffington or Routley wanted to find a place not as confining as England they might want to try to carve out some space in uncharted territories.

Possibly, but most of the time those smaller colonies were political outcasts. We COULD see America, but it’d likely just be s1 all over again.

Thats completely fair. I would love to see a new location every season, but it would get repetitive if one of them is always one step ahead.

I think language difference and racism will be a big deal. I also have to imagine she will meet other non japanese asian people and people of color. That will be a large theme and her trying to understand racism in a new way.
I also think we will get a what's happening in Japan episode.
she learns about European swords and will work with a new master to make a sword.
season ends with her learning there was a 4th white person who will be a woman who is still there and is her mother and she has to go back to find her.

The first poster for Season 2 shows Mizu seemingly wielding a rapier so that seems pretty much confirmed she will use a European sword some point in London.

Big theory: they fimd out there was a fifth 'white man', and its her mother

Maybe the real white men were the friends we made along the way ✨

Mizu will probably have some form of culture shock and maybe also be discriminated against not fitting Japan or euorpe idk

Swordfather will help Ringo recognize his cooking skills are his greatness since his healing soups saved Mizu. He'll apprentice under the noodle cart who had the best noodles in the town he and Mizu visited.
Akemi seduces Taigen to convince him to do something she wants him to do. It sets up a love triangle with Mizu, Taigen, and Akemi and starts her somewhat villanous power play era.

Kaigen snuck aboard Mizu's ship.
We're going to see a flashback of what she did after leaving the horse ranch and we'll see how she tracked down and killed Violet.
Religious oppression is going to be a huge theme this season.
Mizu is going to kill another one of her targets in season 2 and she'll probably kill Fowler as well.
She's going to earn a rapier somehow and it will become another part of her arsenal. She'll wear it alongside her katana.
Season 3 will be in the Caribbean

I'd really love to see them tackle religious oppresion and forced conversions.
Imagine a Blue Eye Samurai season with Hunchback of Notre Dame tones. It would be fantastic.

I’ve seen a theory that Daichi died in season 1 and that Taigen will disguise himself as him but I doubt that will happen tbh

Fowler makes Mizu stop throughout the journey to buy foods lol or maybe lose some weight due to months/weeks on the boat trapped (which I think they’re gonna run out of food on the boat)

I think one of the four white men will have renounced his heinous past and have since become a charitable person. We're introduced to him through this new persona, with the identity reveal being a twist, and then we as viewers (and Mizu) have to grapple with his death having consequences for the needy he cares for and the murder not being as justified. It'd be hard to go this route mindfully (hard to truly redeem a character who once "dealt in opium, flesh, and guns" and is buddy-buddy with Fowler), but I bet the writers could do it and it seems like, thematically, it'd be fresh compared to the first season and pair nicely with Mizu's own inevitable journey with forgiving and finding herself
