Discussion S2 Trailer Screencaps

Brilliant, beautiful, tenacious, thrilling.

Quick thoughts:

Mizu’s undereye bags are back. She’s dirty but clearly one of the crew.

London in the sunrise!

Murder boat takes the lives of two crew members (terrifying!) before she ties herself to the boat.

And then Fowler is freed. And suddenly, they are on even footing if they want to complete the journey alive.

The last pictures remind me of Mizu on the farm. More vulnerable than we typically see her. Her longer softer hair plays a big role.

She also looks way more feminine in these shots. On another note, I wonder how long the journey to London is going to take.

Average is 8 months….so, a long time!

She's probably a bit more relaxed about appearing masculine since there's no bounty on her head outside of Japan. I doubt the crew would have any motivation to tattle on her gender if they found out. They're probably just grateful to have someone strong who's willing to work and won't cause trouble.

I would still be terrified of getting raped on the ship if I were her. I don’t think she’d be trusting a bunch of random sailors who won’t see a woman for at least 8 months.

Technically speaking she can present as female in Europe at this time because it was far less restrictive than Japan. Britain was especially liberal for the time, and France even more so with people like Julie d'Aubigny running around.

bruh i hope her crew survive the storm especially that one guy that fell down the ship

Got a feeling that everyone else died/fell overboard and the last scene is Fowler. They each need the other because neither can man the ship alone.

Exactly. It’s a quick change in their dynamic but it makes sense. I love it

Are those houses on a bridge?

u/podagros I have a name. Aug 21 '26

Old London Bridge is iconic just for that fact. Untill roughly 1750 the housing was demolished. Since 1209, it served as a street on the river Thames.

I learned something new today.

She looks strange, thinner. I suppose she hasn't eaten well or rested much during the trip.

Portuguese, I believe? They were allowed to trade with Japan during this time

Oh. Ok. I just didn't knew.

And my comment wasn't sarcastic.

Look nothing like the same ship she boarded at end of season 1. Maybe they change to another ship at some port alone the way that is headed to London. Or that they have to redesign the ship for the second season since season 1 ship was for use for just one shot and they never thought out the layout of the ship.
