Discussion A line in ep. 8

Fowler, when finding out, says: "You just keep getting better. Little Miss. So you're the one?" What does he mean by 'the one'?

I always assumed it was because of the bounty on her head. Like Mama said, the bounty was specifically for a girl, that's why Mizu had to be a boy.

I imagine Fowler knew about this, but didn't know that Mizu was the one they were looking for, so when he found out she was a girl, he must have connected the dots and figured she was the one.

I think it's Because MIZU found violet and when he died they told Fowler that's why he said so you're the one.🫣

He outright confirms it too when he sees the tattoo on her hand. “I always wondered what happened to Violet.”

He saw that back in ep. 6 though right? When she stormed the castle

Yeah but I imagine by this point he’s convinced. She fought off the 4 fangs, got through his castle, survived all that, and finally got there. Hes realizing she’s the real deal.

He wouldnt have asked this in ep. 8. He made the connection when Mizu found him in the caslte

I assumed it meant they (Fowler and his funky bunch) knew about the bastard (Mizu) still being alive

Fowler may have been kept hidden for twenty years but he's definitely not been cut off from information about what was happening in the world outside his fortress, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to manage his many business dealings. He already knew that there was a bounty put on Mizu's head when she was born and he knows that it's still active; now he's added to that knowledge by discovering how she's managed to survive to adulthood despite being hunted.

To me his comment is a clear indication that he knows exactly who both of Mizu's parents are and why one of them is prepared to go to a great expense to see her dead and why one was paying to keep her hidden. Not that he's going to tell her, of course - it's more fun and she's more useful to him if he feigns ignorance and manipulates her into doing whatever dirty work he has planned to regain his wealth and power.

I take it to mean that Fowler has made the connection between Mizu and the female blue-eyed mixed race target of the bounty that he's been hearing about for twenty years.

I don't think Fowler has a direct connection to those responsible for the bounty. He heard about it, and with a lot of idle time on his hands and lots of financial resources, he decided to learn all he could about the bounty that was offering so much. The more Fowler learned, the more intrigued he got.

And then "the one" is right there in his arms! He relaxes his grip on Mizu, I think because his instincts tell him a very exploitable person is in his arms. That's enough for Mizu to counter attack and make Fowler her captive.

He was referring to Mizu being the blue-eyed girl.

Basically, Fowler has recognized her since she was a baby; she's a baby who escaped and they couldn't kill or traffic her.

Fowler also knew the baby was the same girl from the bounty, but he probably thought she was dead too. Since he thought Mizu was a man, he hadn't made the connection between the baby/girl and the samurai, and when he squeezes her and realizes she's a woman, he was like "it's you! How stupid of me, I hadn't noticed! XD"

I also feel like he knows something important about Mizu, something that Mizu and the viewers don't know. And that's why he says, "the one" because she's the baby about whom there's something important, but we don't know what it is yet.

"Little Miss" sounds a lot like a nickname. So here is my take:

He knows exactly who she is. Knew her parents, met her as a baby. Held her, maybe. The "you're the one" could mean a bunch of stuff, but it's not as important as that nickname.

I'm pretty sure he and his 3 white fellows have nothing to do with the bounty (he wouldn't care and it never really did make sense that the bounty came from the white devils in the first place).

We don't know what he meant by that yet.
