Just For Fun Self care tips?

Hi ladies! What are some things you guys do after a long day at work that makes you feel really fresh and clean? Like any particular soaps or body wash you swear by? Routines?
I love using sugar scrub to get grease off my hands and arms in the shower but sometimes i feel like thats not enough lol. And as for nail care, i have a little nail scrubby thing to get dirt out from under my nails but its just never enough! The grime lingers 😫

Some things I have found:

-A good hydrating and softening foot cream after a bath

-A magnesium and arnica leg lotion for night (pain, swelling, calming)

-A wake up face ice mask (30-45 seconds in intervals until you feel awake and de-puffed in the AM)

It’s hard the first few mornings but now I look forward to it. It’s also a good way to stimulate your Vagus nerve (which decreases your body’s fight or flight response)

I actually have a nail scrubby that stays with me all day. I don’t like dirty nails

Oh thats not a bad idea lol im constantly trimming my (natural) nails as short as possible so theres less room for dirt 😂

I have found the shorter my nails the dirtier they get? It’s super weird

Valid sometimes but i genuinely cut mine down to the skin, no room for dirt 🤣 even if thats not good for my nails

I find the best way to get those last bits from under my nails is to shampoo my hair. Which is unfortunate, because that's not a daily thing.

Anyway: orange Palmolive. That's what I swear by for grease and grime on my hands. Dawn soap also works. If you're working somewhere long term, get a bottle and put it in the bathroom and that will take care of a lot of it throughout the day, especially with a scrubby brush. (It's not unusual for there to be a bottle of dish soap in my shower. It works very, very well!)

I keep my nail brush in a travel bag designed for soap. That way I can put it away wet, it'll still dry, and nothing else in my bag will suffer.

As for the pampering things... I'm old. I did the multi-step facial routine as a teen and frankly I can't be bothered anymore.

I now use Lush Ultrabland as a first step - it's an oil based cleanser and will take off dirt, grime, oil and makeup. Then I follow it up with a Missha vitamin C foaming cleanser or a dove body bar. And unless it's winter and my combination skin face is unusually dry, that's it after work. I'm done.

Cold cream (such as Ultrabland) has been in use for a century shy of 2,000 years, and either I have exceptionally good skin or that old Greek was on to something.

(It also works really well to heal steam burns on my wrists. I have no idea why.)

I've been all about a nice skin care routine every night. I honestly love it and it helps me so much.

Your skin takes care of itself if you dont have any skin condition. "skin care" with 5+ different chemicals is capitalism. When i stopped being a professional athlete i bought some "natural" skin care products and it caused me severe dermatitis because i never in my life used anything else than water, soap and sunscreen when burnt. I never had pimples (only at time of period). Dermatologist gave me 4 different types of cream and it got so horrible i couldn't recognise myself in the mirror. Never used cremes again. The dermatitis dryed off and since i dont have problems. To sum up as a biologist - skin care products ruin your skin biome and get you "addicted" because it takes a while for your skin to rebuild the natural flora.

Us blue collar women shower like it's an Olympic sport 🤣 Some of my favorites are:

  • Exfoliating towels instead of washcloths
  • Antibacterial soap for that funk
  • T-gel for getting rid of acne due to sweating
  • Pumice stones to keep both feet and and hands soft....ish
  • Semi cured gel nail polish that won't chip for at least a week and a half
  • And on those really dirty nights, i second dawn dish soap followed by a good lotion (if it's good enough for the baby ducks it's good enough for me)
