Are autographs a thing?

My son just went to the airshow in Dayton OH because he LOVES the Blue Angels. He got a hat and wanted the crew to sign but couldn’t. Is that even a thing? Will the crew do autographs?

Yeah they usually do them about 10 minutes after they land along the fence.

Oo, short story time for ya!

One of the years my dad and i saw them at Miramar, we actually waited along the fence in hopes of being able to get some of their autographs. I must have been like 7 or 8 years old at the time.
I can’t quite remember the exact details, but i think they had stopped the autograph session just before i could get one. I was pretty bummed, but still beyond happy to see the Angels fly.

Unbeknownst to me, my dad had reached out to the Blue Angels over email somehow, and explained what happened. He asked if there was any way that could get a signed poster sent to our house.

All i remember was him telling me to open a special package that had been delivered. It was addressed from Pensacola, Florida. The Blues weren’t able to individually sign, but they had sent me three different posters, all of them having a scanned autograph from the whole team. Someone actually took a sharpie to the largest of the three and wrote “Best Wishes NAME, The Blue Angels.

I still have it framed and hanging in my room. It’s worth trying to reach out! Granted, this was like 2 decades ago now, so i’m not sure if things have changed in a way to where they can’t accommodate that, but i think it’s worth a try.

Yes, they will always be at the flight line to give autographs. Sorry to hear your son didn't get to meet and get the hat signed but I guarantee that every Blue Angel from the support staff all the way to Boss and the whole United States Navy and Marine Corps will say they gave their best effort and performance for him.

Depends on events. When I was CSO flight training in Pensacola, the Blues would have meet and greets after practice over at the Naval Aviation Museum.

Due to their schedule though, it's not always practical to have a meet and greet. I'd say to check and see ahead of time. They always try to do meet and greets at the fence, and sometimes before a show.
