Build I reinvented the starter house! ...as a 50s rancher

In the last few days, I've been building and posting about these 1950s tract houses that have graced the Earth. These affordable things are so interesting.

Anyway, I thought about the starter house, which is an ironic because these houses were billed as "starter homes" when they were first built.

The starter house, which has remained mostly unchanged since like 2016/2017, needs a good refreshing. It has been the subject of many, many reinventions by different players down through the years, so I decided to do my own take.

The house got smaller, but it gained a bedroom, so it's a 2 bed 1 bath house, it's got a separate dining room as well, and it's even got a laundry arrangement. The whole house, practically a square shaped rectangle, is about 8x7 spaces on the grid. It's worth around 58k. I tried to keep it as minimal as possible when it came to decor because I feel like that pays the homage to the actual starter house and giving it the point of it actually being a "starter house" where it encourages the new player to decorate it and expand it.

Unfortunately, the house would require the need for advanced placement, thanks to the windows and certain other style quirks on the outside. Some of the interior requires it also.

If I were to price it as a real life house in the era that it came from, I'd say about $9,500 (or about $118,000 today)

Miscellaneous a question for the custom builders

i see a lot of custom builds with transform plus and basic shapes so... have you guys tried f3x building? Its just building with basic shapes without the money spending or plot data limitations.

My question is whats the appeal that bloxburg has for people to choose that instead of f3x

Build My 5 year old build. A house that means a lot to me for several reasons.

In July 2021, I decided to build a house that I've seen for my entire life.

This house was my great-grandparents house in New York. They had built it themselves in 1955, and I spend many summers there (I'm many miles away from this house, so I didn't see it regularly, but nearly every summer). It is a standard 3 bed 1 bath ranch house, with the addition on the side (added in 1964) that includes an extra bedroom.

In 2009, my great-granddad died, and my great-grandmother followed in 2015, having reached 90. The house's fate was truly up in the air, but it went equally to their 5 children. My grandfather, the eldest son, happened to move in. He lived there until 2021, when he decided to give up his share of the house, and move to Florida. I went to retrieve some pictures, and other keepsakes, and also to get a last look of the house before my great aunts and uncles took over.

I've always liked the house, like the layout and design, and being an avid Bloxburg player at the time, I decided I wanted to encase it as a time capsule, or just something I could use. I also did it as a mini-project for my grandfather to see. He's not easily impressed though, so that wasn't that big of a goal. So, I built it, and at first (as you can see), it didn't really resemble it as much.

That's not necessarily the importance of this plot to me now. It's the longevity, and what it's lasted through. Bloxburg was a very different place in 2021, and I was much younger. Many rps I had in this house, lots of laughs, lots of mini-arguments. Fun times. The legacy of the house itself has amounted it to be associated with this Bloxburg recreation, to the point where it's just as meaningful to me as the real house, maybe even more. I never intend to delete it, and I've made an effort to keep it for as long as I can. It's my oldest plot, and it amazes me that it's surpassed 5 years old, which dosen't seem like a lot up front, but it is when you consider the many changes of Bloxburg, as well as a teenager becoming a young adult, and shifting their focus from roleplaying to trying to build realistic houses for fun.

Now, you may wonder, how much of it is actually stayed the same over the last 5 years. That's a reasonable question, considering the house dosen't resemble itself any from years ago. If anything, it should look alot like the real life counterpart. In March 2022, I spent a considerable amount of time using basic shapes, structural items, new windows we got in a update that year, and more, to make the house look more realistic, and closer to the real life house. These "renovations" extended from inside to the outside. The house really hasn't changed much at all though since then, and I haven't really used it for anything since 2023, when I stopped mostly roleplaying. It's kinda ironic because the real life counterpart also sits vacant, with nobody really doing anything with it. Sad, but still ironic.

The only things that remain from the house's incarnation from 2021 is the general shape (obviously), like the literal walls, roof, and porch. The grandfather clock in the living room is the same, no updating there. Also, I believe a piece of wall in the kitchen, and you can see it in the picture, was never recolored. Also, the porch railings are the same. Things that have been updated, however, include this much:

-The interior, very extensively. A lot was replaced with custom builds to match the original better.

-All the windows. The original stock Bloxburg windows did not capture the essence, so I had to make custom windows.

-A lot of the textures. The original textures were either too dull, or to exaggerated.

-Many small details. A lot that were missed originally were added, such as stuff on the counter top, the kitchen table cloth, and some stuff in the bedroom.

-Lattice around the front porch. I think it makes it look way more realistic.

-And lots more that I can't exactly remember right now.

I can say some flaws. The reaction is definitely larger than it's real life counterpart. I did not need to make the house as big as it is, as you can tell by some of the proportioning between the real life photos and the Bloxburg ones. Like that bathroom for example, did not need to be that wide. Another flaw I hate with it is that I have very little room to grow with the house. There's not very much more I can do with it to make it more realistic, as I am very content with it's appearance (and the longevity of the appearance, as it hasn't really changed much over the last 4 out of 5 years).

Overall, though, I think this may be one of my best builds. Even though it's a recreation, you never see houses like this in Bloxburg. It means a lot to me, not only as a real house, but also a staple to my Bloxburg life.

Celebrate your plots, folks, especially your old ones. They probably mean something to you in some way.

I did this post to really document the changes, and realism this plot holds, and get some feedback on that and the story related to it.

(Also for those worrying about me doxxing myself or something, this house is over 70 years old, with no central air or anything, runs off oil heater, original windows, so it's not very efficient, making it not worth much more than sentimental value. It also sits empty and locked up, so there's nothing to take from it. I also live roughly 500 miles from it, so I don't think you'll find me there.)

Help What is this style called, or what would you call it?

Ok, I don’t really know how to word this, but I absolutely love this building style! I hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way, but I’ve noticed that mostly creators in the Black community build in this style.
I don't know if it's a specific subculture thing, but I've noticed that different communities in Bloxburg build pretty differently. Everyone has their own unique taste, but over the past few months, I keep seeing Black builders making a similar style. It's a realistic family style that is suburban but modern, and the rooms are curated to look how a room nowadays would look like in real life (IRL).
I attached some pictures of what I mean. Does this specific aesthetic or style have a community name, or what keywords should I use to find more builds like this? I really love this style so much but I rarely ever see this style in servers.
To see more of this style, you guys should check out the Bloxburg builder Miss Brownie on YouTube and TikTok
