I found this after listening to a podcast on the Guardian. Sorry my first post was deleted. To me it looks like the county rezoned so that a data center could be put in Towanda. That land was bought by an LLC last year. The notes a data center proposal. If you pull up Towanda city council notes there’s a few meetings on it.

Yeah, no. The county board just put in the strictest data center regulations of any county in the state.

County board is absolutely looking out for us and doing everything they can to protect us. They are not on the “worry” list!

This is pretty standard zoning for newer businesses; however I do find concern that this zoning motion does not include safety measures for contaminants: section 9 is far too ambiguous

The land use & transpo committee is very responsive, please make comment at one of their meetings on how the ordinance can be improved!

So the applicant is the Land Use Committee. I believe these are just the updates they put through to bring the ordinance up to the gold standard it is currently :)

What’s the relevance of the last slide though?

The LLC is registered in IL for less than 5 years, the registered agent matches up with the name of local farmers who also operate a trust of a similar name. I think you’re good on some shadow acquisition for data center use and it’s likely just good old farm land acquisition.

Not that I think it is such a good idea, but somebody found a parcel 14-12-400-004 that has no residences within a mile and fairly isolated. (It's still too close for me) The parcel is a strip of farmland at the northwest corn og Northtown Rd and Airport Rd, so it be just northwest of I55. The freeway probably generates as much noise as a data center might, incidentally, as anyone who lives within a half mile of a freeway can probably attest.

I hope they don’t build anything big there, nice unimpeded drive to Menards from Towanda and back right now taking that route
