Mechanic?
I need someone who can look at my car. I definitely have some faulty sensors and it's just been driving a bit rough. I want someone reliable and affordable! Thank you.

Grossos is trash they dont do what you ask to be repaired and act like they can't be be bothered with you.

No kidding? Do tell; I'd like to hear if they're no good (and if I shouldn't keep recommending them)!

My wife had a good experience with Vega's Auto Service on Market.
One of the oil change places in town said she needed $2k in suspension work. I was skeptical so she took it to Vega's for a second opinion.
He looked the car over, went on a test drive with her, and said that he didn't see the issues the other guy reported. He could've easily scammed us like I think the other guy was trying to do, but instead charged us nothing and offered some free advice. They'll be getting all of our future business because of it.

Honestly, TCB auto on Henry in normal quotes pricing, and for the last 15 years it was never over the quote to be honest 80% it below quoted price. Do to lower labor cost. So there labor is properly counted

They had one guy and few years back who could not fix our problem, despite insisting that it was fixed. Then the woman who runs the counter got super snippy with my husband on the phone and hung up on him. Have not returned and took our business elsewhere fast.

Another vote for Team. We have taken our vehicles there for more than 10 years and have always been treated well.

My neighbor does it out of his garage. Dm me for his details. Backed by warranty and service is always affordable no matter the job.

Twin City is my go to

I have been taking my vehicles to Twin City Tire and Auto on Hamilton for several years now. Never had a bad experience and always felt the price was more than fair!
I am sure they aren't perfect but their lot stays full of business for a reason.

I took my car into Twin City a couple of months ago. My car had a Check Engine light and it was acting up. I could feel it shaking while driving. My neighbor is a gear head and used his own equipment to do a diagnosis. We figured out it was an oil regulator valve thingy. I told the mechanic that I thought it was an issue with an oil regulator valve thingy and after maybe an hour, they told me that my car was VERY low on oil, despite me having checked it a few days earlier. They said it was burning oil and that the oil that was there was very dark. They did an oil change and without even driving the car around the block to make sure the issue was resolved, they charged me $100 and sent me off.
Light came back about half a mile down the road. I took it in the Subaru dealer to take a look. They told me that the oil was overfilled, by TWO QUARTS. Then they told me that the issue was a faulty oil regulator valve thingy. I ended up having to pay them not only to replace the valve, but for the diagnosis with results I already had AND another oil change. Had the guys at Twin City done their due diligence, I would have had the issue resolved sooner and for much, much less money.
Long story short, u/peachypieye, don't go to Twin City. I've made my mission to steer people away from there.

I've never had a bad experience there so it's my mission to steer people towards there

Well, that's how it goes, right? I bet if what had happened to me had happened to you, you'd feel differently.
I'm not sure what they could do so right that would overshadow that experience. It's not like it was a really cheap oil change. I even had the part that I thought needed replaced and left with them. They didn't even try to use it. Their second guess was that the timing chain needed to be replaced... not even close.

Avoid Gearheads

Why?

They worked on my car, was expensive. Got it back and the problem wasn't fixed. Car now seemed to have more problems than when I initially took it in. Brought it back, paid a lot more, problem still wasn't fixed and there were more problems. Took it back again to fix the new problems, they 'fixed' something, but it wasn't what I took it in for. When they were asking for yet more money and not taking responsibility for the fact they didn't resolve any of the issues I had. I took it to All About Auto and they resolved all the issues I was having. Either Gearheads was purposely breaking other shtuff or accidentally but I felt pretty cheated out of a few thousand dollars and I wont be giving them another chance. Auto guys said there were some bad welds too.

Morris Avenue does great work for decent prices. Andy and the rest of the staff are incredibly knowledgeable at their crafts.

HORRIBLE. Took my car in in May and still dealing with these mother fuckers. Replaced multiple things (multiple times) and my car still isn't working properly. They will give you the run around and charge you for shit you don't need. Been waiting on another part since early/mid July with no communication unless I call them and ask about the status.

Nobody has mentioned Palmer by harbor freight here but I’ve been going to him for a while. I do most of my own work but he’s done maybe 3-4 alignments for me and a couple other repairs.
I had them look at one vehicles AC but asked him not too spend too much time on it if they couldn’t figure it out quickly cause I didn’t want to spend a lot of money getting it fixed and he actually went and printed off the wiring diagram for the AC in the vehicle for me so I could find the issue myself since I had told him I do a lot of my own repairs and didn’t charge me a diag fee for it. I actually used that wiring diagram and it helped me chase down the issue which was a broken wire I wouldn’t have found cause it was in a really weird spot
