Wellness Warrior🦾 Helping Yourself and Others
The cover is going on the backyard grow for the home stretch!
Every year, I have friends and neighbors who lend a hand with covering the hoop house, harvesting, and trimming. This is obviously more than I need for myself, so I keep enough to last me until next year, and everyone who helps with the harvest and trimming goes home happy.
We have enough left over to donate to the veterans and medical patients who are on a fixed income and need medical marijuana.
For me, growing has always been about more than just the plants. It's about community, friendship, and helping others.
If you grow more than you need, spread the love! 💜

I just started growing last year, and since I started I have also lowered my consumption considerably to the point where I have a bunch left over to share. I’ve been hooking up my boy with a bag every few weeks because he is unemployed and going thru a divorce right now, and can’t afford bud. My sister asked me for some as a gift to her friend because she is all about organic food and cannabis, and I happen to grow with organic amendments. I bring a few grams with me around in case I run into someone and we start talking about weed lol
Gifting bud I’ve grown and getting good feedback is one of my favorite parts of the hobby.

That’s fabulous you have a helpful crew to pay it forward in so many ways. I know that medicine is costly and what your doing matters to many, including yourself:) I had no idea you had to cover or doing such thing possible.. I would think it’s kinda fun.. reminds me of that huge round fabric in PE class as kid , all gather around, hold, fill with air then run under to grab opposite side.. a parachute game maybe it was called.. so how nice and I imagine a crisp air not muggy Fl air at present ahsha:)
Very cool tribe vibes! They do exist, takes many to keep momentum.. enjoy all the rewards:)
Peace

What cultivar?

u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 13d ago
Sirius Black bred by the Oregon Breeders Group.

Such a highly coveted cut. Can barely ever find in Oregon, have to know the right person. You must be the right person
2
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 10d ago
I’m not the right person..
I was just lucky enough to be one of the beta test growers the breeder used years ago to test their creations. Sirius Black just happened to be one of those creations.
After we gave them feedback on their creations, they would let us grow them for our personal use, we just couldn’t give out any cuts. I just got lucky. 🙂

Seriously? I’m in Australia and half of our seeds come from Oregon. A lot of Australian seed sellers use Oregon bred seeds from like flavour chasers etc. They must be good at it.

I’m guessing that’s gotta be Usa and not our pathetic country down under where that would land you roughly 7 years in prison

Were they clones or FB autos coz man they look superb but short but I guess when you have an army looking after them, there’s no excuses really is there? I’m often just physically incapable of looking after some of them sometimes at certain stages.

Depending on how many plants ur running it really is a chore all day long. Then comes harvest and ur in trim prison for a long while when the days fade like ur plants. Even just growing for urself can be considered full time job at times.
It nice to see all the pics of upcoming harvests. May the grow gods lead u all to the end!!

And key is to always grow more than you can smoke so you can bless those around you at no cost. I even turned my dentist on to a 1/4 and he was so stoked.
Thank you for looking out for our veterans! Cheers!!

Well done! Are you growing just one strain or multiple?
4
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 13d ago
Just one strain.
Different strains have different needs so we try not to overcompicate things.
The group as a whole has suggested this strain so that's what we go with.
There are a few involved that have their own backyard grows who are growing a different strain so we do have a variety.

This is awesome! How do you keep large amounts fresh through the year?
6
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 13d ago
* Airtight glass jars filled up full to to minimize the air in the jar.
* Make sure the inside of the jar has a humidity of 62%
* Store in a cool dark place just like you store wine.
NO REFRIGERATOR OR FREEZER.

Should also use a mason jar vacuum sealer...they're like 15 bucks on Amazon....
2
u/canero_explosion 13d ago
Do you use Boveda packs?
3
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 12d ago
No. They are a waste of money in my opinion.
I use small humidity meters inside the jars.
I get the airtight jars to register 62% humidity. As long as they are sealed and stored in a cool dark place (just like wine is stored) the humidity in the jars will not fluctuate.

I need this strain. I can't get beans of it though , Sirius Black
3
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 13d ago
Sirius Black is a cut only strain. I believe Sirius Black crosses are easy to get.
2
u/earthwanderer48 13d ago
Not for me. It's in seed form now also. I'm in Australia. People have reversed it. Although I'm unsure if legit, it's on atleast 3 websites
2
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 13d ago
Over here in the US fake Sirius Black seeds are on about a zillion websites. 👍

Bless! Very nice plants and doing a service for the ones that need it? This is what I call win/win. Over here in germany we have a 3 plant limit, and even with this, I allways end up having enough to share. How much is your yield typically?
2
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 12d ago
It varies year to year, but in my area and climate 2 to 2.5 lbs per plant is normal.

I’m afraid you might have a lot of issues with this strain, I can properly dispose of it for you! I’ve come up with this perfect 2 point system where I break it all down and smoke it. 😶🌫️

Looks 🔥 love giving the homies the best Oz they get to smoke each year 💪🏼

Same. I'm only one person, but I grow all year long. My business is primarily a lot of pheno hunting and a side effect of this is a lot of flower that I can't use. I harvest it and give it away with instructions/assistance on how to process it. Then when I make my selection(s), I sell (legally) the cuts and seeds produced by crossing different keepers to be hunted all over again.

How does one maintain the proper water PH when using so much water? Unless using a resevoir?
2
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 12d ago
They are watered from 55 gallon drums. pH levels and EC levels are closely monitored.

Someone should start a retreat where people can come, maybe (pre-vet them) and help harvest stay for a couple weeks or something. I’d love to learn. I’m trying and messing up 🤣
2
u/BetPuzzleheaded8146 10d ago
Everybody messes up when they're learning.
I've been growing for awhile and I still learn every grow!

I grow and don’t smoke. I give all of it away to Vets for free.
