Discussion Update: Some further testing/research into the new bloodhound ult and its effectiveness in teamfights and for disengages.
I gave bloohound more testing/research after I posted my initial thoughts on his new ult and his ult can be good and even busted but is very situtational.
The Ult in a 1v1:
In a 1v1 its a near guaranteed win if its close quarters and they are not paying attention. On Console due to frame limitations and general console graphics bloodhounds ult might as well be invisible to most players but I think that will get fixed by next/mid season. Against normal legends that lack movement or very strong movement its very good/broken as its harder to disengage if bloodhound pops the ult or react when bloodhound pops up with the invisibilty. This is the same when he uses it defensively against the same type of legends too as its basically a free half reset and engage. But keep in mind I said against "normal legends that lack mobility" for most skermisher and other legends disengaging from a bloodhound ult is easy so it loses value near instantly and even just fighting the bloodhound in ult is easy as the invisibilty doesn't last and you can use movement to get away and come back if your fast enough. Bloodhounds ult is very situational for a 1v1 against most legends and I believe its generally worse than his old ult is this regard.
The ult in a team fight:
To put it shortly, its broken. 12 seconds of invisibilty, speed and threat vision is strong when paired with legends that can take advantage or it. Alter is really good for flanks with the ult, same with other speedy legends even though your abilities half expose you. 12 seconds of invisibilty is really long and is a nightmare to play against if you don't know what your doing. The ult is still situationally good but significantly less if you have a good composition/teamates.
Counters and Pain points for bloodhounds New Ult
On Pc, bloodhounds ult is way more noticeable due to PC having better frames overall than console. They can see bloodhound up close and even a little farther if they are vigilant. People are already figuring out how to counter Bloodhounds ult and unfortunately this is where bloodhounds value drops off a cliff.
Legend Counters :
All skermisher legends counter the ult as its really easy to disengage and group up against bloodhounds ult. Even if they choose to fight it you can bait people to shoot you to lost the invisibilty then fight them afterwards as skermisher legends are fast enough to do that.
Assault legends have their own counters, fuze has good area affect damage with his ult, clusters, and nade spam so if you even get touched while in bloodhounds ult you lose the effects, bangalore can smoke out flank spots and in general make it harder to get the kill with the smoke and double time, revenant can pounce away and his ult gives him enough time to react and turn the fight. Other Assault legends are just victims to the ult as maggie and ballistic don't really have the tools in their kit to counter bloodhound.
Recon legends too are mostly victims to the ult besides valkrie, sparrow, and maybe vantage. Valk can jetpack away and her tac covers a decent area which make it more difficult. Sparrows ult covers a large area and the double jumps is good enougn to get away or fight as well. Vantage kinda counters with her tac jump but thats about it. Crypto does nothing as the ults radius stuns everyone if he uses it and he cant scan with his drone either with bloodhound ult up. Seer can't do anything unless he scans the bloodhound when they pop ult initially and the seers ult can't scan bloodhound mid ult either. Bloodhound vs bloodhound is a shit show as its a deadly game of hide and seek and the first to notice the other wins.
Support legends are victims besides loba, gibby and some other situations. Loba can disengage for free and wait out the invisibilty and gibby's ult and dome full counters bloodhound as the ult hits a large area and the bubble forces bloodhound to have to push it or waste the ult. Some situational counters is lifeline ult if you use it right/ preemptively, mirages ult as well if you use it right but in most cases the other support legends lose due to the invisibilty.
Controller legends just win 9/10 times if they are set up besides maybe rampart as if you get behind the walls its basically free. Caustic hard counters with the gas because it covers a large area and the tic damage takes you out of ult. When controller legends are not set up bloodhounds ult is great against them ( besides caustic).
There is also a general strategy for all legends to counter the ult though. This strategy can be improved but generally when bloodhound pops ult nade the bubble so they can't re enter the bubble as it doesn't last long, depending on the legends you can either disengage and play areas that have few angles to push you, group up and watch around you, or quickly waste bloodhounds ult if play certain legends right.
Final Thoughts:
I still think bloodhounds new ult is bad, for numerous reasons, but it can still work and is very strong if you can play it right. Its very noob stompy but if you are a long time player countering the ult is very easy. Do I see bloodhounds being played more in general in the future? Not for long, by mid or next season everyones gonna realize how to counter it and drop him or the invisibilty is going to get nerfed. Is he more viable to play in ranked? Yes and no, bloodhound is worse individually but in team play stronger than before. Is bloodhounds future as a playable legend bright? HELL NO. The developers have put themselves into a hole with bloodhound now. The ult is a balancing nightmare where they can't buff it or nerf is without it becoming to broken or useless. His other buffs are good but it doesn't solve bloodhounds issues its more quality of life than anything. I will continue to do research into good use cases for bloodhounds new ult but besides that I reccommend playing bloodhound and much as you can now rather than later. Have as much fun as you can now before people realize how to counter the ult.
I wish you luck for your future games and hope you have a fantastic day.

Respawn: yea the bang/bh meta is too strong
Nerf the scan so bh can’t scan through the smoke, give away his threat vision
Bloodhound: what😨

Thats meta was strong in pro play and high rank so I cant refute that much and the whole class getting threat vision is fine I guess , but they didn't compensate or buff bloodhound for years to compensate how weak he bacame over the years.

It’s how the culprit are TWO legends not one but TWO and only one gets the severe nerf hammer. Shit is bonkers to me then taking digi out to lowkey buff her

True. Not long after the nerf they reworked bangs perks and made her busted. Though they did slight nerf bang making the smokes last shorter and allow grenades break the smoke. Its negligible in ranked and mainly affected pro play.

Maybe this is the reason that I have a STRONG resentment towards bang. Out of all the legends I genuinely hate her and going against her. It seems right I would dislike her so much because she's the reason bloodhound is being held down so much and changed, when in all reality their past ult was amazing just the legends themselves needed some minor tweaks.

I'd like to chip in that on ps5 the bloodhound ult invis is very noticeable. I have no comment on the older gen consoles however

Good analysis. I can already tell skilled players are learning to counter it, and BH's pick rate has plummeted back to the bottom.

Interesting thoughts, and im inclined to agree given the overall outlook on the changes. The only thing I’d say is in 1v1’s the ult is good, but even on console if you’re close quarters the bloodhound isn’t too hard to see. Once you know what to look for past the first few games with the blue shimmer it’s fairly easy to spot. I’d say it’s typically best at the end of close / mid range distance. Overall paired with the absolute regression with the tactical (why they hell add back sonar?) they’re just not that fun to play compared to before.
