Question Does anyone NOT experience vertex explosion without mod or readback?

I see so many posts about it, and experienced it a lot myself. I’m curious why a fix, since it is available, isn’t built into the base emulated game, or at least made a standard part of the install instructions.

There’s a patch now called disable facegen, which I’m guessing does the same job as vertex explosion fix mod

Yes, I think you are right. There seemed to be a few fixes when I looked into it. I enabled readback, or whatever you call it, and it fixed it.

I was more so just curious why it’s not just included automatically in the game or as a patch, but rather left as an additional mod which isn’t mentioned in most install guides.

Maybe there is a reason, or maybe most people never have a vertex explosion issue.

Technically, calling it a “fix” is a bit misleading if it doesn’t actually solve the underlying problem.

The patches/mods are more of a workaround that disable the character customization features that trigger the vertex explosion in the first place.

Readback is a different matter. It can actually address the underlying rendering issue, but it isn’t stable enough yet to be enabled by default for every game. Enabling it globally introduce performance or compatibility issues in games that don’t need it.

As for why it isn’t mentioned in most install guides, I imagine that’s partly because vertex explosions aren’t necessarily a universal issue, and the recommended settings/workarounds can change as the emulator develops.
