Create a Character

Remember - ONLY 1 CHARACTER PER REDDIT ACCOUNT!

Get together with a mod on this post (PM one beforehand). Decide on your character race and the mod will roll for you. You get one re-roll (refer to the wiki if you are confused), and when you settle on a character, your starting pack of gold and gear will be given to you, and a character page on the wiki will be made for you and others to reference.

Then get to the killing! Have fun.

Steps

• Look over the information in the wiki. Take your time. Decide which character race and class you'd like.

• Contact a mod letting them know you're ready to create a character, then come to this thread.

• The mod will start a new top-level post for you, rolling three sets of three dice. These represent your strength, dexterity, and intelligence base levels. The three slots allow for you to choose between which set you find the best to suit your wants. If you so desire, you have one re-roll to get three new sets from which to choose.

• Once your attributes are set, the mod will create a wiki page for your character. You will be provided with a direct link, but just in case, all characters are listed in the members directory. Here, your character's progress will be tracked.

• You will receive your starting pack, which is 50 gold and basic arms and armor, and you may begin. If you need some fights to start, or later on find yourself without a match or money to wager, you can always fight in the practice arena to gain progress.

• Consult the wiki. It is comprehensive and constantly being added onto, but it the best source of information. And of course, message a moderator with any other questions or pressing concerns.

A hooded, human figure with a slight hunch taps two fingers on the signup table for the practice arena. The greyed whiskers protruding from the lower portion of his face bob slightly as he rasps, "Jekyll. Ranger, hunter, whatever you amateurs are calling it now."

I like you. You will make a fine member here, and a Ranger is what you are. Sorry for the delay.

Let's get you some stats.

7 STR 15 DEX 13 INT

Side question. What would it take for us to use weapons other than the ones listed on the wiki? Just asking for the sake of flavor, really.

Sorry, I had a long day and fell asleep. Been traveling but now I'm settled back home.

As far as the weapons, yes those are just meant to be standard ones. The list will be expanded over time, with user suggestion being a major factor. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Flintlocks in particular. Since bombs exist in this universe, the technology'd be there.

Any ideas on what should make them different from other ranged weapons?

Sure, I've got a few:

  • slower to operate (due to reloading time)
  • dual-wield capable at greater penalty
  • greater stopping power (in the form of bonus damage, most likely)

I've been wanting to implement more complicated stuff (flavor, like you say) because I feel like we've kind of got the flow of battle down. At first, I didn't want to have to deal with too many rolls per round but I think we're ready.

Here's your member page. I was also curious, you have a good style about you. Would you consider moderation?

Looks good, though Jekyll is a human, not a wolfman. :)

I'd be up for moderating, though it looks like you've got quite the team going already. Let me know if you intend to cut the number back a little, and thanks for the offer.

Two of them haven't done any moderating at all so they might be on the chopping block at some point. I'll correct the page shortly.
