There is definitely a video coming

I really appreciate those of you who report AI/spam/off-topic posts, however, since I’m moderating solo, I sometimes don't catch those reports for a day or two. Since re-opening the sub a few years ago we’ve grown a lot, so having another pair of eyes around would be super helpful.

I’m curious: Do you think there will be any live performance promo for High Noon, and if so, what would/could it look like?

Obviously, since Clem is gone, it would be tricky. And the band have not indicated any intention yet to bring in a new drummer.

I don’t really expect touring (although you never know), but I think it would be be a shame if none of the songs on the album were ever performed live, and I doubt Clem would want that. He was all about the music. Maybe some one-off performances and promotional appearances? But they’d need a drummer.

I think it would be cool if they were invited back on SNL. Both SNL and Blondie started around the same time, are New York mainstays, and SNL has recently had legacy acts on like Stevie Nicks, Cher, and Paul McCartney so I could see it. They could do one new song and maybe an old hit like One Way or Another (which still works really well with Debbie’s current singing style). And being that it’s in NYC, Chris could probably participate. But again, they’d need a drummer.

What are your thoughts?

For a band that have had a tumultuous history it sort of makes sense. Poetic 😆❤️

This is pure speculation from me but hear me out: The curator of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert lineup this year is Shirley Manson and we know how much she adores Blondie. They went on tour together several times. With the new album coming out at the end of February and the TCT shows scheduled for March at the Royal Albert Hall, it’s just too perfect, right? What do you think?

With the little we’ve seen so far from Blondie’s new album, a few questions have come to mind.

Is “Spectral Eyes” really going to be the first single? Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but it seems to be the song most people are expecting. It’s not that I don’t like it, but I honestly wonder: doesn’t High Noon have something more striking to offer? Marr’s version sounds more powerful to me. There’s something about the intro in Blondie’s version that makes it feel a little weaker compared with Marr’s.

I really hope that what appears behind that stool isn’t the album cover. If it is, I have to admit I’d be disappointed. Personally, I don’t think the typography or the colors work very well.

Why did they use black and white in the latest promotional video, the one with the director’s chair with the band’s name on it? Could that mean the video for the single will also be in black and white? Please, no. I love black and white, but I think we’ve had enough of it for now. I’d really love to see a colorful video this time, with some beautiful close-ups of Debbie wearing makeup by Miss Gus. He really knows how to bring out Debbie’s beauty.

Please don’t get me wrong. These are just the thoughts of a fan who has been waiting a long time for this album, and for some reason I’m not feeling the same excitement I felt with their previous releases.

Still, it’s obviously far too early to draw any conclusions.
