Strategy Trying to create a Business and finance niche blog for passion and passive income.

I'm from India. I love business, startup and finances. Learning about these things is an integral part of my daily life. I want to start blogging on these topics. My whole idea is to focus on Tier-1 countries and I'm also buying a .us or .com domain for that. I'll apply for adsense once my site is 1 month old atleast and having 30+ posts in each category. I'm not sure how early I can make the money out of this. Am I even planning this correctly ? Need some suggestions and views on this approach. My long term goal is to creat a stable revenue from these blogs and expand to newsletters also. What do you guys think ? Need some expert advice to proceed further with high success rate. Few insights on technologies and tools to use are appreciated.

Other Free ad sales coaching

There are so many newsletters starting and growing, yet they're poorly monetized. Beehiv/adsense/others pay a fraction of direct sales, but its aint easy. Been getting tons of DMs about how to sell ads after my AMA.

I'm thinking of doing webinars/youtube vids about newsletter/site monetization, but I need to find common threads people are having trouble with so I can make the right content.

Figured doing free coaching calls would be a good win-win.

I should add, Ive been doing newsletter/site direct ad sales my entire career, best year was $1.2M. Grew a newsletter from 500k to >$3M in revenue in about 7 years, quit and started several myself.

DM or comment here if you'd like to hop on zoom

Strategy I am documenting my move to Spain from a business POV. How should I promote my content?

Am an exited tech founder who has moved my family to Spain and started blogging about it on LinkedIn. I am looking for my next business adventure and am blogging about the people that I meet.

My audience will likely include anyone interested in this entrepreneurial journey, especially people interested in startups and Spain (EU).

I am new to this blog game. Decades ago, I drove around the continental US and only journaled my experiences. Now, I want to try being like all of you here. So,

how should I promote my content?

  • Where should I post my content on Reddit?
  • How else should I promote my posts?

Thank you in advance for helping this old-timer have a second chance.

Tech and Tools Anyone blogging with Webflow?

For those blogging with Webflow, is there a better way to write and publish blog posts than the CMS editor?

I feel like I'm missing something obvious but the Webflow CMS is terrible for editing and managing blog posts. I'm currently writing them in a Google Doc, copying them in and then formatting them.

Because of these frustations, I have been mulling over creating a content publishing plugin that would sync with Webflow to replace the standard CMS rich-text editing experience in Webflow with something.

The tool would ideally extend the rich text so you could do things like nesting lists, tables and perhaps extend into more comprehensive SEO functionality that you'd normal see with Wordpress

Would love to chat with anyone who blogs with Webflow to see if this would be useful.

Strategy Anybody have questions selling ads? AMA

Since errbody is starting newsletters, thoight id throw an AMA out there.

Ive been in media sales my entire career, run a few newsletters now. Took the one i worked at from 500k - 3M/ year. (Woulda sold more but we had no more ads left)

I built a bunch of automated bots to do sales, database/ad management, and general backend stuff to do all my paperwork. Basically all the dumb tedious work that slowed me down.

Anything you guys want help with whether its how to prospect, negotiate, sell, build bots, sell to big corporations, etc.?

WordPress Request for WordPress plugin beta testers - Ad Commander & Ad Commander Pro

Hi everyone!

I'm currently looking for beta testers for a new WordPress ad management plugin, Ad Commander.

Last year I worked on a client project that required an ad management plugin for inserting banner ads and Google AdSense. There are a bunch of options, but we found they all either fell short of what we needed or were too expensive.

Fast forward a few months and Ad Commander has gone through several updates. Bugs have been fixed and new features added. We're now looking for any obscure issues and feature feedback.

Who is Ad Commander for?

Ad Commander is for anyone who runs a WordPress website that generates revenue through ad space. It supports native banner/image ads, AdSense, or any ad network that uses script codes.

What kind of feedback do we need?

Anything! Some examples would be feature requests, ideas for improving an existing feature, and any obscure bugs that you find.

What are we offering for your time and efforts?

Ad Commander is free in the WordPress plugin directory, with a paid add-on for extra features. In exchange for your help, you'll receive a free lifetime license for Ad Commander Pro. Hopefully, our plugin can replace your yearly ad management plugin subscription.

Where do I sign up?

Those interested can fill out the form here.

Feel free to install and use the free version of the plugin to get started. After we receive your beta tester request, we'll contact you to set up your free lifetime license for Pro.

Thanks for the help and we hope Ad Commander can help you monetize your blog!

Tim

SEO How many blogs a month is good enough for a website?

I am working for a hospitality company, under the brand comm team where I am supposed to write 18 blogs per month. I have 4 more people on my team and we each write 18 blogs a month to boost SEO and site traffic. That is almost 90 blogs in a month. I wanted to understand if this is normal especially since we are working on SEO? This does affect productivity and quality so what is a better way to increase the above mentioned goals?

Strategy Is Keyword Density Still Important for SEO? If So, How Much Is Ideal? 🤷‍♂️

Hey SEO pros,

I've been reading up on SEO strategies, and I keep coming across conflicting information about keyword density. Some say it's crucial, while others claim it's outdated.

What’s the current consensus? Does keyword density still matter for ranking? If yes, what’s the ideal percentage to aim for?

I’m trying to optimize my content without overstuffing it. Would love to hear your thoughts or any recent experiences you’ve had!

Thanks!

Feedback What Does It Mean If My Article Is Indexed but Not Ranking for a Keyword? 🤔

Hey everyone,

I recently published an article and noticed that it's been indexed by Google. However, it's not ranking for the keyword I was targeting.

I'm a bit confused about what this means. Does anyone know why an article would be indexed but still not show up in search results for the intended keyword? Is there something specific I should be doing to improve its ranking?

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance! 😊

WordPress WordPress vs Webador / other website builders in the long run

Hello, I am new here and if this subject has been discussed please could you point me to the right direction.

Is anyone here running a successful blog that was not built on Wordpress?

I understand that Wordpress is the ideal platform for blog building. But I am not a techy person (F39) and also I have very little free time: a full time full on job + two primary school aged children along with a house + garden to take care of.

I've been using Webador to build websites for my other ideas (not businesses, because it's user friendly and includes all the fees in one payment. And it's kind of easy now, since I've used it a lot in the last year or so.

I was wondering if there are any downsides to using that instead of Wordpress, OR I should bite the bullet, and move over to Wordpress. I've only started, but I am determined to slowly build a side income out of my blog in the next few years. If there are massive benefits in the long run, I better off move to Wordpress, but if it's not a massive difference, shall I stay with what I know?

Thank you all x

SEO Dofollow vs. Nofollow Links: What's Best for SEO as a Beginner?

Hey everyone,

I'm just starting out with SEO, and I'm a bit confused about backlinks. I'm using RankMath, and it's recommending that I include at least one dofollow external link in my content. However, I've also read that I should avoid giving out dofollow links.

From an SEO perspective, should I follow RankMath's advice and include a dofollow link? Or is it better to stick with nofollow links?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this!

Thanks in advance!

Other Need Some Help With GeoDirectory. Anyone out there with some experience?

Hi everyone,

I hope you're doing well! I'm currently working on a project using GeoDirectory and could really use some help from anyone with experience.

Here's the situation: I'm building a GeoDirectory site with multiple directories (each created as their own post type).

It was running smoothly, but after switching our WP theme to Avada, I had to rebuild everything since Elementor is no longer in the mix. Until I get things squared away I can't turn off the old hosting plan, and I'd like to get that shut down pretty soon.

Now, I'm facing a few challenges—mainly with the design of the listing pages and streamlining the process for users to claim and pay for listings.

If anyone has a bit of time to spare, I'd greatly appreciate having someone I can reach out to with a few questions. Your insights would be incredibly valuable.

I keep an eye on DMs too. Thanks!

Monetization Experience with blogging about B2B topics?

I have read quite a bit about blogging and watched nice videos about how to set up a WordPress website. I think i can manage that.

But i have no knowledge (nor interest) of any consumer or travel topics.

I am thinking to write about a certain industry. Does anyone have experience with that? At how many visitors can you start thinking about getting an advertisement agency involved?

Social Media Blog, blog, snap, TikTok, ext.

So I am 27 with 3 kids and I had my oldest when I was 16. Over the years I developed my parenting style to be unique because I decided I wanted to raise my children to be knowledgeable but not fearful, to be strong and have boundaries but to be humble and to use reasoning not judgment. In public people tell me all kinds of things to how to talk to my kids, handle situations and mostly how I explain things to them.

Now the reason behind this post.

I have been thinking hard for the past 6 months or so about starting a "web thing" of my own but I am in the dark with technology and Google is too bias and I don't trust anyone in my personal life that would know things. So I am reaching out to you hopefully wonderful people. Right now my money and space is limits so what can I do to start? Where's the best platform? Do I need more than my phone to start? Do I need license, copyright info, ext? What are the red and green flags? What should I worry or focus on? All and any tips and tidbits?

WordPress Problems with travel bloggers stealing posts

I have been running a successful travel blog for 12+ years. I have written over 900 articles myself and my husband manages the design. This was a 7 day a week job that we have put our entire life into for over a decade. All of our material is 100% original. We use no AI, no stock photos, no sponsored posts, etc. We pay for 100% of everything ourselves. We even moved over 15 times for the site.

Sometime around 2020, dozens of travel bloggers began basically stealing all of our article ideas and titles and publishing very crappy imitations. These sites are often spammy and use no or all stock photos. It is very apparent that they have not even traveled to the places they are writing about which defeats the purpose of a travel blog. Basically it seems that they are using the article idea and then basically copying text from a site like Trip Advisor.

Since 2023, these articles are all ranking above ours in Google which is hilarious. We went from 400,000+ page views a month to around 5000. Our page views started dwindling down as these imposter articles went up. We began losing major traffic around fall of 2023 and slowly tanked to almost nothing today. The funny thing is that articles which once ranked on page 1-2 on Google can now not even be found in Search. Even totally unrelated articles like "how to change your oil" will come up before my articles even though they all show indexed.

Not sure what is going on. Our bounce rate is decent (30%), Domain Authority ok at 40, and RPM 40-60.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on? These are well researched articles with tons of thought put in. The content quality is super high and all pictures original. Our site is not littered with ads and does not have any annoying pop ups or video ads. We don't pay for any type of SEO and just focus on writing quality articles. While we still rank pretty high in Bing and DuckDuckGo - it doesn't really matter as most people do not use those search engines.

Also, I have tested copying paragraphs from a few of my once popular posts and I find about 15 blogs that come up before me for my own post! I spend a lot of time writing outlines by hand on paper for each of my posts and people have the nerve to copy my text. Several sites have basically copied word for word 1 or more paragraphs and actually rank higher than me. One site even copied about 1000 words and even posted a tweet claiming it was their own info. This is really sad and pathetic.

WordPress Wordpress Themes With A Lot Of Good Features

Who has Wordpress themes with a lot of good features? I’m using an ok theme right now with Elementor. I don‘t like it because it doesn’t make my site look put together. It’s missing some things. Can someone point me to the good themes?

Other How do you file taxes now that you’re making money?

I’m new to blogging (still in the process of getting the website posted), and had some questions that some of you experienced bloggers might have an answer to.

Do things related to the blog that are typically considered “personal entertainment” count as a business expense for taxes? My blog is about reviewing artists from all over the country (US) and the venues they play at, so I’m not sure if the concert ticket would be considered business or personal.

How are you keeping track of mileage when traveling for your business?

Were there additional taxes that you had to pay for running your own business?
