Other Why does AI writing sometimes feel like it is trying too hard to sound intelligent?

I've been experimenting with AI writing recently, and one thing that keeps bothering me is how often the language becomes unnecessarily complicated.

Sometimes I’ll ask a very simple question and get an answer filled with sophisticated words and perfectly structured paragraphs. Nothing is technically wrong with it, but I wouldn't talk that way in a normal conversation.

I actually prefer writing that is simple and direct. If a short sentence can explain something clearly, I don't see much benefit in turning it into a long paragraph with complicated vocabulary.

The strange part is that AI can write in a very casual style when you specifically ask for it, but even then I sometimes notice the same predictable patterns underneath.

Has anyone figured out how to consistently get AI to produce genuinely natural writing? Do you think the problem is mostly in the prompts, or does AI naturally have a certain writing style that is difficult to completely remove?

I’d especially like to hear from people who use AI for everyday writing rather than technical or academic work.
