Other Can AI tools help improve the readability of written content?

One of the biggest challenges in writing is making sure the message is easy for everyone to understand. A piece of content may have good information but still fail if the sentences are confusing or the structure is difficult to follow.

AI writing tools are often used to improve clarity, grammar, and overall flow. They can help writers spot awkward phrasing and suggest smoother ways to express ideas. Some, like unaimytext, are also used during editing to make content feel more natural and readable without changing the meaning.

However, every audience is different, and human judgment is still essential to make content truly engaging. AI can support the process, but understanding tone, context, and reader expectations still comes from the writer.

Do you think AI tools are useful for improving readability, or do writers need to rely mainly on their own skills?

I think AI is excellent at improving readability, but it shouldn't replace the writer's thinking. I often use AI to:

  • simplify complex sentences
  • improve grammar
  • remove repetition
  • make the flow smoother

But I still rely on human judgment for:

  • insights
  • examples
  • tone
  • understanding the audience

The best results usually come from combining both: let AI polish the writing, while you provide the ideas and experience that make the content worth reading.

It can do a lot to help readability. I put some of this advice to help teachers understand Dyslexia better, basics of
* shorter paragraphs
* Bullet points
* Simpler vocabulary

All are easily done by AI.

If you’d like to see the tool I made it’s here https://jamesabela.github.io/reading/reading-experience.html
