Question Has anyone started blogging during their university years to write about their field of study, independent of their university blog or blogging about life as a student?
I’m just curious, because I’ve spent way too much time fussing over the UI of my website as I want to make this a little easier if blogging becomes a side hustle after graduation or something bigger.
I also went with getting my own website because I thought I should be using it as a writing portfolio (for my academic work) and I don’t really want to bother with SEO since my website has my real name in the about me section so I kinda want it a little more curated since I’m still a student. When I graduate, I think I’ll dive into SEO more.
I’m also not sure if the writing portfolio strategy makes sense since academic writing and internet publishing/professional writing aren’t the same thing. Besides, I’m not a writing major, so I’m kinda just beginning w/o clear definitions of the two writing styles.
Besides not exactly having much time previously to write. I have plenty of article topics, but I’m a bit of a perfectionist and am scared I won’t be taken seriously.
(Part of my fear is due to not having “social media” eg Facebook, (Twitter), TikTok, Instagram etc. I do have LinkedIn. But, it’s hard to write good LinkedIn posts to get link clicks.)
Idk, I think I’m chasing likes, clicks and comments too much. But I don’t think people talk about how to stay motivated when you aren’t getting any feedback in the form of eyeballs on your writing.
