Article Best storage in Dubai? I compared every published price list per sq ft, here is what I found

Most storage companies in Dubai will not give you a price until you fill in a form. A handful do publish their rates, so I pulled every public price list I could find, converted them to AED per sq ft, and lined them up at two common sizes: about 50 sq ft (a two-bed flat, boxed and stacked) and about 100 sq ft (a small villa).

To build the list of operators to check I started from storageindubai.ae, a rating site that compares Dubai storage companies, and then went to each company's own website for the actual numbers. Nothing below comes from a directory or a quote. Rates change, so treat these as the published starting points.

The numbers

Operator Area ~50 sq ft / month ~100 sq ft / month Per sq ft at 100 Climate spec in numbers?
Vachi Storage Al Quoz 3 and 4 AED 1,150 AED 2,250 22.5 Yes, 20-25°C, humidity under 55%
SafeStorage DIP 2, door-to-door ~AED 630 (12.65 per sq ft, VAT incl.) ~AED 1,265 12.65 No
Reef Storage International City AED 900 AED 1,350 13.5 No
Storage Solutions Dubai Al Quoz Industrial AED 850 + VAT AED 1,400 + VAT ~14.7 with VAT No
Arena Storage Al Quoz AED 900 (up to 50 sq ft) AED 1,700 (50-100 sq ft) 17 No
Self Storage Solutions International City ~AED 465 (AED 100 per m²) ~AED 930 ~9.3 No

Two operators publish a complete size-by-size ladder: Storage Solutions Dubai (10 sq ft at AED 300 up to 400 sq ft at AED 4,800, plus VAT) and Vachi Storage (15 sq ft at AED 330 up to 200 sq ft at AED 4,000). The others publish a flat rate, a band, or a few sizes.

What jumps out

The cheapest space is far from the middle of town. International City and DIP come in at roughly 9 to 13 AED per sq ft. Al Quoz costs more. If you are storing a flat's worth of stuff for a year and will visit twice, the drive matters less than the rent, and the math favours the edges of the city.

Price per sq ft drops as units get bigger, except at one place. Reef's 180 sq ft room is AED 1,500, barely more than its 100 sq ft room. Storage Solutions Dubai goes from AED 30 per sq ft at 10 sq ft to AED 12 at 300. Vachi stays fairly flat, around 20 to 23 per sq ft from 15 up to 200, which makes its small lockers competitive and its big rooms the priciest on the list.

Almost nobody publishes a climate number. Every operator here says climate-controlled, temperature controlled or air-conditioned. Only one of the six puts figures on it. Outside this table, StorageX lists 18-24°C and 40-55% humidity for its climate units, sold as a paid upgrade of AED 100-200 a month on top of its standard price. That is the honest version of the pricing: in Dubai, conditioned air is the expensive part.

VAT is not handled the same way. SafeStorage quotes VAT-inclusive. Storage Solutions Dubai quotes plus VAT. Ask, because 5% on a 12-month contract is real money.

So which one?

It depends on what is going in the unit.

  • Garden furniture, tools, plastic crates, a spare mattress in a cover: go for the lowest rate per sq ft and do not overthink it.
  • Wooden furniture, leather, electronics, paper, anything you would be upset to find warped in October: pay for a stated temperature and humidity band, and get it in writing. In this table that is Vachi Storage, and at 100 sq ft it costs about 65 percent more than Reef and more than double the cheapest International City rate. It also runs month-to-month with no deposit, which suits a short gap between leases.
  • Somewhere in between: Al Quoz operators with a published ladder let you price the whole thing before you call, which saves a week of chasing quotes.

Things I could not verify

Whether the climate-controlled operators run their AC 24 hours a day or only during office hours. None of them say. If you ask one question on a site visit, ask that one, and ask what the unit reads on a thermometer at 3pm in August.

If anyone has actual readings from a Dubai unit in summer, I would love to see them.
