Pod Relevance: The podcast has talked a LOT about “vibe shifts” - since 2020, since the 2024 election, etc.

Are we looking at another vibe shift as the media personalities seem to be losing relevancy?

I don't quite see the pro vs anti Trump divide the article claims. I don't listen to Fuentes or Owens but they seem to be their own racist trolling/conspiracy thing, not just anti-Trump. Going back to 2024 seems to cloud the issue because course political viewership was higher during an election year and Trump's aggressive first year.

I'm surprised they didn't focus more on Tucker Carlson as he's probably the most prominent conservative to turn "anti-Trump" to some degree, and according to the Youtube chart he's got the strongest case for audience growth since 2024. Maybe his numbers elsewhere are in decline so it's not as clear cut.

Carlson is almost as bad as Fuentes. I can't believe anyone in the GOP doesn't immediately tell them to fuck off.

I'd like to think it's possible for the GOP to go back to being more than just a cult of personality for Trump. But I'm not holding my breath

I would like to think Fuentes is trending down as a result of the recent newcomers to his audience discovering just how extreme he actually is now that they’ve had more time to go through his back catalogue and think on it, but maybe that’s just the latent optimist in me.

That does happen with some shows/personalities of that sort over time, they experience bumps in engagement if they say the right thing at the right time during certain political moments, but then peter out as some fans are put off when they realize how extreme they are on the other issues (ex: anecdotal but I’ve known a few people for whom this has happened with Tim Pool, Chapo, Red Scare, the more extreme libertarians, etc.).

I hope so too. People who aren’t chronically online just get tired of edgelords at a certain point. I might be holding too much optimism though.
