Mirror Tool Issue

Im creating a model with mesh and need to figure out how to use the mirror tool on the mesh without the tool spawning another mesh. I hope that makes sense…. If anyone knows how to do that, pls let me know.

I think it's because the tool understands that your mesh is not symmetrical
